Our poor kitty Nala is at the vet's office. She hasn't eaten in several days and can hardly breathe. The vet is going to run a bunch of tests on her to hopefully find out what is wrong - he did say she is very dehydrated and has a large lump across her chest. He thinks at the least she may have pneumonia and I don't even want to think about the worst. We have had her since she was about 6-8 weeks old and she is almost 11 now. Marimbagirl has grown up with her (she was a birthday present for her 8th birthday). If you beleive in saying prayers for animals we could use all you can give. I know there are worse things in the world but she is such a big part of OUR world.

I am very sorry she's not doing well and I hope she has something that is easily (and cheaply) fixed <33. And I definitely think prayers can go for animals as well as humans, so my prayers will be with her and your family <3

thanks everyone. Sadly Nala passed away this afternoon at about 4:15. The vet said she had cancers in her lung primary to an infection. The infection is the actual cause of her death but was secondary to the cancer so even if they had cleared the infection we would have lost her in a short time anyway. We are all heartbroken but at least she is no longer in pain.

Angel, I am so sorry! Tell Marimbagirl that she has our support--it is so hard losing something that has been such a big part of your life. I remember that after my husband died, I REALLY needed my animal friends--they have gotten me through alot, so I understand. heart *hugs* to you both.

Oh angel I know your pain. I lost my kitty in my junior year of high school and I had her since I was in kindergarten. I won't disturb you with the details of how she died, but it was from liver cancer and it broke my heart to not have her around... I still miss her occasionally or call my new kitty by her name. cry At least she is no longer in distress or pain.

I'm so sorry, angel. sad I had a puppy that was a Christmas present when I was five. She died shortly after my 20th birthday. I still miss her. She was my sister and my best friend growing up.
I think what people who "own" animals and people who "don't own" animals out there don't understand is that there a group of us out here who welcome animals into our hearts and into our families.
I always try to remember that when someone we love passes that they take our love to those who went before. That kind of helps me deal with loss some, as silly as it sounds, but I hope it helps you and Marimba too.
Just know you are in our thoughts.
*HUGS*

Oh no! I'm so sorry for your loss, angelbaskets. I know that pets can be a very big part of one's life and losing one is almost as tough as losing a person. My compassion is with you in this time and I hope everyone in your family can recover soon. It'll take some getting used to, but carry her in your heart even though her physical form is gone.
