I've been trying to get some answer to this one other than nvidia drivers suck on widescreen <.<
I've been working with Linux for some time and a few month's ago i came across a little problem when trying to play a little frozen Bubble. Every time i try to put the full screen option half of the game gets off the monitor <.<
I tried other games to see if it was a problem with the game and it happens exactly the same...
Has this happen to anyone?
And can someone help me? ^^;

Happens to my friends system with a Nvidia card and their driver installed running openSUSE 10.3. Its a problem with their driver and you need to ether open up a bug report with them or wait until they do release their driver source like they have said they would.

I can't seem to dig up an article about it, but ATI and Nvidia are both working on plans to open up their driver source. Once they do then all the hackers and devs will be able to legally fix their drivers.

Are you sure it's not a problem with your monitor? Proprietary or not Nvidia provides the highest quality 3D graphics drivers available for Linux/Unix. Chances are the developers of that game are using Nvidia on their machines.

Well considering it happens on my friends new Dell laptop, with the same game I don't think its a problem with her monitor. Frozen Bubble does not need any kind of 3D rendering so it works fine on Intel chips, I know because my desktop has a integrated Intel chip and it runs Frozen Bubble just fine. To get rid of the possibility of bad X.org configs you can give the NV (the open source version the Nvidia drivers not supported by Nvidia) you will lose Dual Head Support and possibility even 3D rendering but this is just a test. If the NV driver can give you full screen support in Frozen Bubble then it is a problem with the Proprietary driver and you do need to open a bug report with them.

Seems that they are not having in account wide screen's resolutions in 3d fulllscreen ^^;

Vendion Ati/amd have already released a 3rd part of the graphic related issues according to my husband (linux "fanatic" lol) I hope nvidia does the same ^^; i love nvidia graphic's (i had a bad experience with ATI) so i hope i don't need to change my likings ^^

I use the nvidia driver on two widescreen notebooks and it works fine. I have used both nvidia and ATI on a wide variety of gaming systems (I used to run the local LAN parties) and Nvidia's driver has always been top-notch. There are occasionally bugs, but far fewer than ATI's drivers or any of the open-source 3D drivers. If Vendion is right it might be a weakness in the 2D-accelerated rendering (which I don't have much experience with).

Its my best guess in this matter, if I remember correctly my friend used the NV driver and had no problem with full screen, but when he wanted to get Dual Head support he had to install the proprietary driver and started to have the problem With wide screen. It is kind of hard to understand the problem when I did not experience it myself.

Sitwon: The best ATI driver (Winblows only) is the 3rd party one which is a mix of every ATI that they made. Surprisingly it is really stable, and runs fine.
