I just did my first successful journey into the spirit realms, and I think I met my dragon guide. It was interesting. The moment I asked to see my spirit guides/familiar spirit he appeared in the air.
Now He's an Eastern Style Dragon, so he's unique. But still a Dragon. He touched my head and showed me images from my past saying how he's always been here, just been waiting for me to call out to him. So I want to learn how to work with him more.
You know how they give images of people or places to come? Well I saw DF and Vox's avatars appear in my mind (and I wasn't thinking about Gaia at all) so am I crazy or was there a dragon there?

It was most likely a dragon in my opinion, but as I wasn't on the journey with you I cannot say for sure.
Well you seem to have been pointed in my direction and here I am. Ask what you wish and I will do my best to answer.

Well, probably a good source for dragon mythology...I'd also like to learn more about various types of dragons.

What hoo? DF's avatar? /end of blantant Silliness
That's awesome. I'm serious, awesome. Hey, Vox, I may steal that list from you. >)
Anyhoo, I looked/researched a lot of dragon mythology before I actually started practicing DM too. To be honest I'm not really a big fan of any of it. I really don't have a persuasion on my mythology. Why? I have no clue. I did a lot of reading though.
It was kind of funny that several years later I spotted a children's book called "Dragonology" and picked it up and looked at it. About burst my sides open laughing at the utterly ridiculous cuteness of it all.
I'm not sure where I can help you at though. Dragon's Blood is a good attractive (and powerful) incense. I used to have a whole supply. I have to wait till the guy I buy it from comes back to the PX where my family buys their junk. xD
Random connection:
I was told on thursday that I smelled like a mixture of Dragon's Blood and Florals. I was like wtf bbq.

As promised one book list
Sea Land Sky by Parker J Torrence (fantastic book in my opinion, my copy is well thumbed and battered to oblivion, its seen as many foriegn ports as I have!)
Dragonlore by Ash "LeopardDancer" DeKirk (Very good resource for different types of dragons from around the world)
Dragons: A Natural History by Dr Karl Shuker (not finished reading this one yet, can't pass comment)
Flight of Dragons by Peter Dickinson (good resource for the dragon myths of Great Britain, only covers them in brief but it gives enough information for you to find out more)
The Dance of The Dragon by Paul Broadhurst, Hamish Miller Vivenne Shanley and Ba Russel. (The books is a book on sacred landscapes as opposed to dragons, in this case it's about the Apollo St Michael axis......nearly all churches of St Michael were built on dragon mounds like in Glastonbury. A good read from what I have read so far)
Dancing With Dragons by D. J. Conway (I cannot stand this book at all, nothing but pure unadulterated fluff in terms of ritual, I'm sorry but an elemental dragon is a dragon thats is adept at channeling the energies of a given element not a creature formed of the energies of that element. Its also far too ceremonial and wicca orientated for my tastes but some good information can be gleaned from the fluff. Working with dragons can be dangerous and isn't for the beginner but she makes all this information accessable to the seeker including rituals involving the forces of chaos. I would never let a newbie get their hands on chaos magic until they are experienced enough to know what they are doing!)
Mystical Dragon Magick by D.J. Conway (someone stop this woman writing about dragon magick please, this book was absolutely abysmal in terms of ritual again! You cannot jump from being an enchanter to a warrior to a shaman. Too full of ceremonial for my liking and it doesn't sound like she's giving this magnicient beings the respect they deserve.)
Yes I have a baised against Conway, I feel her works have made a mockery of the path I walk, but then again my path is one of elemental magic rather than ceremonial magic.

I was like wtf bbq. My room smells like dragon's blood all the time, I love the smell and its a brilliant bug repellant when burned. Dragons blood adds strength and power to a spell but its primary use is for banishing ironically enough despite the fact its used to encourage draconic entities into your life. I'm picking up a new batch of the stuff next week, alchemical grade to make ink with and then your bog standard incense grade.

It's hard because I know how powerful a dragon can be and I know how they feel about humanity in general. I just don't believe that so many people (and I mean many) believe that their souls are dragons. And some of it does have to do with my own theory on the soul, but a lot of it has to deal with my experience with dragons, you know? They are just too different to be in a human form, not that they couldn't or wouldn't be able to or that some of the dragonkin might actually be dragon spirits in human body, but most of them are just doing it for attention. And I think that in general a lot of the otherkin are just faking it. The "I'm special factor", you know? And it grates the crap out of my nerves when I read it on a forum, or where ever. If you don't mind me asking, or rather you can PM me the answer because I think we're off topic. xD, what's a Sanguine Vampire, and what does a Sanguine Vampire do (Like I know what a Psychic vamp does, and I know what a vampire does, but Sanguine is a whole new title for me.

Dragons are fascinating creatures to be sure. I told my mom about the experience (she's just starting to study witchcraft and paganism) and she was amazed. When I think back to my childhood, one of my favorite beanie babies was the Dragon Mystic. I never liked the second dragon they came out with..
I always used to think that Unicorns were more special than dragons because less people have experiences with them. I'd still love to meet a unicorn, and maybe I have. It doesn't mater. What matters is that now I have my dragon to work with.
Is it normal to be a little nervous about starting to work with them? I mean they are such powerful beings. I wouldn't want to offend them or any spirit for that matter. I'm taking it slow as I feel if I rush into things I can miss important details and not learn as much as I should learn. Or rather wouldn't really understand my lessons.
How did both of you start working with your Dragon friends?

A sanguine vampire draws on dywfer (or prana or chi or what ever you call it) in order to survive but does so through the actual drinking of another's blood I have tried many times to learn to feed through psi methods but I can't. I can only draw vital energy from living blood. If you want more info PM me.
