So my swimteam had their annual swim-a-thon yesterday. You swim 200 laps or for 2 hours, which ever comes first. So I was wondering who does something like this every year.

i did it too but i swam 400 laps so i can get an award xd

When I was an age group swimmer, I used to do that. Although, it was really only the provincial level swimmers and below that had to do it for time. When I was at junior national level, I just had to do a 5k practice and make it up on my own, mixing up the strokes, equipment, etc. I think the closest that I've had to do in university has been raising money for arthritis research (Aquatics for Arthritis), but even then I got away without having to swim (each team submitted a four person relay, who'd swim 25's for 15 minutes... we had three teams: the university team, the national center swimmers, and the university level club swimmers. It ended up being like 400m per person, so as a sprinter, I was not one of the people who had to swim it).

hey guys wat's ^ and i have never swim a swim-a-thon well if consider a 1000 IM a swim-a-thon then i have done one but idk well have a great swimming or doing any sports and have a great spring break ! biggrin

lol i remember swim-a-thons... when i did summer club swimming i used to do those... my year round team doesnt do those sad

depending on the # of laps we swim, and by how much people pledge for you, you win prizes
i never can get anyone to donate, though

we do 50X100s on 1:40 and we get a trophy at the banquet when we finish

Yeah we do a swim-a-thon. Our team limits us to 200 laps. I guess they don't want to suck up too much money from people.

My team just started Swim-a-Thon. When I heard the news, I was pretty bumbed about it. My old team had done it, so I knew what it was while my teammates were going "Oh, sounds like fun." Of, course, that was before they knew they had to swim 200 laps.
In my team, at the beginning and end of long course, we do a 5k for time. So to us, it was basically that, except short course, and we had to do it with the little kids making us very squished sad
