Assalamu'alaikum

You know our god has a name, I don't think universal word of "God" can relieve it, right? Because sometimes there are "Gods" instead of "God", that plural thing makes me sick.

Then again, the word arabic, "Rabb" don't say God, it means "The Creator". Yet Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) himself never said that, and call Allah's name instead.

Yup, we should say Allah, rather than God.

Wassalam

Wasalam,

I think saying "Allah" is better because...
Well this is from a small book that I got called " 10 Top Misconceptions about Islam"

" Misconceptions #4

Muslims worship a Different God....WRONG!

Did you know that:

When Jesus (as) prayed, he:

1) Prostrated like Muslims do and
2) Referred to God as Eloh or Elah (=Allah) in Aramaic

And Jesus (as) said:

Eloh, Eloh, lama Sabachthani ?
( My God, My God, why have you forsaken me ? )
Mathew 27:46 and Mark 15:34

Concept of God in Islam

[...]
Did you Know?

The word "Allah" is the noun God chose to use in All of His Scriptured. It is Arabic Word for God of rich meaning, denoting the one and only God and ascribing no partners to Him. More Importantly, it should be noted that God in Islam is One and Only. He , the Exalted, does not get tired, does not have a son i.e. Jesus or have associates, nor does he have human-like attributions as found in other faiths.

[...]

Did you Know?
In Arabic, Allah is a name that is neither feminine nor masculine, and it Cannot be made plural ( unlike god, gods, godess, etc. ). Muslims believe that there is nothing in the heavens nor on earth that deserves worships except Allah, The One True Creator."

So yeah , saying "Allah" is better since we know you're talking about the Only One True God, Creator. Some people may say " I believe in God." But then you found he's talking about some random idols, ya understand what I'm sayin' ?

I'm not a bit sure.

But I think the word "God" originated from the West and is considered as foreign.

Further, the name of Allah is so broad and without boundaries that you cannot contain His name in such Westernized word.

Just a guess. biggrin

my professor in HIstory said that Allah is the arabic term for God. we used it because Islam had been originated in the Arab countries, mecca, specifically. so, from that as Islam had been spread worldly, we used Allah instead of God. but, it's fyn also if we use God as long as we are talking about Allah. in other way, we use Allah as the name of our God and we do have also the 99 names.

nwei, guys my mualim in my arabic school said that it is a sin to imagine what Allah do in every time. for example, ur imagining what does Allah doing now. your imagining that He is sitting and how does He looks. so, avoid this to avoid sins. sweatdrop
