Let's see... I've been up to a lot.

I got married, and I've been dealing with all the paperwork on the military side of that. It's all good, though.

I've been flying a lot, went out to Guam about a month ago and our jet broke. Ended up staying there in a rather nice hotel by the beach, and enjoying life despite missing my newly-attained spouse.
After that trip, I headed up north to do some training with some fighters up there. That was fun, went snowboarding, did as much AR as we could, considering the weather (which had the receivers grounded most of the time -_-). All-in-all, a good trip, though my whole body was sore after the snowboarding trip XD It was my first time, but everyone said I did well (which is saying a lot, considering the group of guys I was with).
After coming back to the rain from the snow, I hit up an AWACS in a rather grand display that I was quite proud of.
I'm told I'll be mission ready in a few weeks, if I keep my progress how it's been. So, that's been awesome.

We've got an inspection coming up for the base, an Operational Readiness Inspection... basically a big war game to see if we're all prepared in the event of... an event. So, that's taking up a lot of time... that'll be all this coming week.

What else, what else, what else...

I think that's it. Nothing too amazing... I don't know if anyone's heard/read the news on recent U.S. Military/Japanese Government relations recently. All that's been going on all around me, since it's pretty well centered right here in Okinawa. Things seem to be cooling down now, but only time will tell for how it all pans out in the end.

Anyway, I'll try to keep up my time here. If you need any Shoppage done, let me know, I'd be glad to put things together biggrin

I'm glad things are going well for you, it's good to see you back.

What's an AWACS? And what's this about Japanese/American relations? I don't get much on the news over here, mostly because I don't watch it.

I look forward to seeing your posts around the board again.

Congratulations on tying the knot, too.

An AWACS is an Airborne Warning And Control System. The primary U.S. AWACS is on-board the Boeing E-3 "Sentry," an aircraft based on the 707 airframe.

Recently (in the past month or so) a U.S. Marine was accused of raping a 14-year old Japanese girl. This isn't really an isolated event, since there seems to be a Marine raping an under-aged Japanese girl at least once every few years. Combine that with all the other incidents involving Marines (and, especially alcohol), and you develop a Japanese populace (mostly down in Okinawa itself) that is very unhappy. Throw this recent incident on international news, and now you've got the rest of Japan pissed off ("Wait, we have an island down there? Uh... yeah! I'm involved in, and enraged at this event that I didn't know happened until I saw it on TV.")
Currently there are plans to remove the majority of Marine forces from Japan, and transferring them to Guam (don't quote me on that).
Ramifications of the big stink were various restrictions being placed on all U.S. Forces Japan personnel. To include a two-week-long "Period of Reflection" that restricted all military personnel and their families to U.S. Military installations or their homes (with transit to/from bases, homes and essential facilities allowed), and disallowed patronage at any Japanese facility.
The restriction was lifted once Japanese anger settled down, and the businesses realized that without U.S. presence in Okinawa, their daily income dropped by greater than half. The majority have ceased calling for removal of U.S. Military presence.

Anyway, that's just my experience on the whole thing. I'd recommend checking some valid news source if you'd care to know more.

That sounds pretty serious. What do you think will happen?

Probably not much at all.
