Fahr peeked out from behind a mass of bedrock obscuring him from the guards' view, watching them intently for several moments. He then turned back and slide down to the floor, sighing before putting his forearms on his knees. "I doubt they'll let us in to his inner chambers, what do you suggest we do brother?"

Lous looked over the top of the bedrock, crouchign so his massive form would not be seen. "And I don't supose we could just tell them we're his nephews either..." He glaced up. "Roof?"

Fahr smirked before shooting out from behind the rock, his appearance seeming to be only a trick of the light infront of the guards. He waved to his brother as he sat on the roof, taking in the bits of sunlight that began to show through the rock.

In a flash Lous was standing next to his brother, surveying the top of the roof. "Not a whole lot of holes." He chuckled. "Whole lot of holes. That's funny."

Fahr chuckled with Lous before jamming his hand underneath one of the shingles on the roof, prying it open before slipping his lithe body in and landing on the floor of the large room. "You think he'll have anything interesting...or any women?"

Lous laughed now, smashing his own way down to the floor. "Women? Brother, we're talking about uncle Vaarn. He seemed pretty asexual to me." He looked around the massive expanse of what had once been Vaarn's laboratory, one of the upper floors of the citadel. "But interesting stuff..." his eyes traveled over the sleek metal tables, weapons and surgical tools propped next to poisonous plants and neatly labeled vials. "I think there's more than enough of that." His eyes danced.

Fahr began to hum as he searched through books and organized papers. His eyes glossed over as he examined large jars with spiders of all sizes and brightly colored eyes skittered about in them. He turned, bumping into a large elegantly crafted chest. "Hmm...wonder what's in here....Hey Lous!"

Lous dropped the mirror he had been hodling for closer inspection. "Yeah?" He asked, as a myriad of shadowy creatures escaped from the broken shards. "Ooooh." He made his way over to his brother's side. "Want to see what's inside?"

Fahr quickly brought down his claws and severed the lock on the chest, the perfect answer to his brother's question. He lifted the top of the chest effortlessly even though he was the much smaller of them, rummaging through the items each wrapped in cloth. "Hmmm...interesting..."

Lous helped to lift the tiems out of the chest, unwrapping each of them and laying them to the side. A pile of rags, a sacrificail dagger decorated with ornate silver designs flowing fromt he handle up over half the blade, a pair of candle holders, and a bowl of inscence were soon littered about the floor. Lous looked at the items, turning back to the chest. "That's it? Seemed bigger than that..." He paused then slammed his huge fist downwards throught eh false bottom, expertly placed over the large book at the bottom of the chest. "Jackpot!" Lous giggled with glee, reaching into the chest. "Aw..." He groaned. "It's just a book." The ancient tome seemed to radiant gloom. It's cover was smooth, and looked suspiciously like baby's skin. A single red-eyed spider glared at them from the cover, it's ruby eyes twinkling in the firelight. It's pages seemed to glow slightly out of the side, a dim pulsating light. The covers were attached by a large iron lock, which resisted lous' best attempts to force it open. "A magick book." He grumbled, tossing it to his brother.

Fahr cautiously ran one pale hand over the soft cover of the book, admiring each little indent and ripped piece of vellum. "Hmm...it's from the Old World..." he whispered.

Lous sat back, picking at his teeth. "You mean that place uncle Vaarn and Father were princes in? Interesting." He leaned back studying the room. "Any idea how to open it?"

Fahr nodded in response, running one finger down the spine of the book as if it were a woman's thigh. "Hmm..." He closed his eyes, focusing on each bit of the book, feeling for a hidden lock or a trap. Then, his hands found it, an indent with four pieces jutting out from the circular middle. "We need to find a spider, a fake one..."

Lous looked around the sapce. "Oh, yeah, that'll be hard." Spiders were emblazoned on everything, even the handles of the box. He sat back, thinking out loud. "If I were Vaarn, where would I put my special spider..." His eyes scanned the room before settling on one object. He made his way over and ran his fingers along the edges of a sinlge stone embedded in the wall. Directly above the stone were a series of words in scrolling foreign script. One of them was obvious, the tattoo Vaarn had under his left eye: Spider. "Got it." The stone had moved easily under Lous' immense strength, and now a small glittering spider sat in his large palm.

In a blip of movement, Fahr stood next to his brother, carefully taking the spider and slipping it into its resting place on the book. The latch snapped open, and the pages spilled to reveal all of its secrets. "Hmmm...let's see..." Fahr said to himself, paging through the book.
