You said I only need the "LMMS" and "LMMS_common" packages. Are these the correct ones? Quote: [ ] lmms-common_0.1.2-1_all.deb 29-Dec-2005 17:20 3.9M [ ] lmms-common_0.2.1-1.1_all.deb 08-Sep-2006 20:03 5.5M [ ] lmms-common_0.3.0-1ubuntu3_all.deb 04-Oct-2007 03:03 5.7M [ ] lmms-common_0.3.1-1ubuntu1_all.deb

That aside: This is where I keep getting stuck:
It says: To open Synaptic File Manager: > Go to GNOME applications menu > System tools > synaptic file manager.
WELL: I go to the app menu and there's no 'system tools' option [it gives me games, graphics, internet, office, etc]. hmmm. Doing it wrong? I'm sure if I figured out what the problem was here, the rest of my Linux issues will be virtually non-existent. Albeit it's likely something so simple, it's hard . sweatdrop

A lot of times it is little details that get over looked, like things being right in front of you but you keep over looking it until you get despite then all you want to do is hit your head against something for over complicating things. xd
Anyways... so it says that you need to open Synaptic File Manager? Well also being a Ubuntu n00b I'll see if I can find it.
Are you talking about synaptic package manager? If so then that is located in: System -> Administration -> Synaptic Package Manager
I don't know what you did to get all of those but I would recommend using the 0.3.0-1ubuntu3 package.

I'm going to finish my dinner and get to working on this. I'll let you know how it goes.
I really wish I had Fedora or RedHat. But Ubuntu is pretty user-friendly and is comparable to MAC platforms.

If you can't find it in the menus, I don't think that it adds a menu item last time I bothered with it, then you can call it from the command line In Terminal just type lmms

I suppose to some you must always make this distinction when speaking about GPL'd stuff such as Linux(and accompanying programs)

Zechs Marquis of Exeon vendion Sitwon vendion Fedora is owned by RedHat and is free, RedHat is not free though. RedHat is free, just not for free. The Stalman difference. I was talking about $$ wise, last time I looked they had a price tag to it. Free as in Speech, not Beer. I suppose to some you must always make this distinction when speaking about GPL'd stuff such as Linux(and accompanying programs) The distinction is important when you consider projects like CentOS which is a free (both meanings) 100% binary compatible repack of RHEL. All they do is strip the art and trademarks that are property of RedHat and covered by non-free licenses and redistribute it in full compliance with the law. You get a RHEL system for no $. That's the power of freedom that RMS cares so much about. OpenBSD uses a similar technique to encourage people to donate. Quote: The official OpenBSD CD-ROM layout is copyright Theo de Raadt. Theo does not permit people to redistribute images of the official OpenBSD CDs. As an incentive for people to buy the CD set, some extras are included in the package as well (artwork, stickers etc).

Yea I should have went into more detail, I'm just use to people knowing what I mean when I say "Red hat" and "not free" in the same sentence, or they don't know what Red Hat is in the first place.
