Hi. I am new here. I wanted to ask all of u something. I wanted to ask if building a Meatal Gear can be done?

Well, if we look at where technology is leading us, and the huge military weapons we have now, I'd say that it couldn't be too long before we consider this type of weapon. And it could be unmanned too, that also a movement we're going towards.
I don't think it would have lazers (MG Ray had mouth lazer I think).
And also, the new Metal Gears, in MGS4, they have fleshy looking legs, and can jump long distances... I just can't see that in our lifetime.
I'm sure types like Metal Gear Rex and Ray are possible, maybe not the Shagohod (SP?) but it wasn't really a Metal Gear (it was a nuke equipt tank).

Seriously though, on a papercraft board I sometimes go on, I see a bunch of MGS papercraft.

The Shagohad might be possible,I'm not sure if they could make something that weighs probably a few ton go fast enough so that the bomb could go far enough to not harm the area its in. Right now i think it would have to use jet engines.
Metal gear Rex would come before metal gear ray just because of there maneuverability differences there would need to be a lot of time to make the rays amphibious.
I think they could have lasers you can make the plane pointer lasers can burn, melt, and even light objects just concentrate it and there u have a major destructive laser.
But in general I don't know if the cost of making one would equal out to its usefulness. The metal Gear are just sitting ducks if a fighter jets after it, except Metal Gear Ray.
And for the for the MGS4 ones....like snow_leo_luv said probably not in this life time lol.

From a logical stand point the Shagohod seems the most logical machine in the metal gear series to build. REX and RAY don't look too practical. Standing upright exposes the machine. Makes it vulnerable. They're tactical nightmares. Arsenal Gear would be amazing but it requires a payload of missiles and nukes and also requires the RAYs to protect it. Its far from an impenetrable fortress. And its expensive to maintain.
For references listen to the conversation between Snake and Signit regarding Granin's Metal Gear. Also a lot conversations involving Ocelot and President Johnson state the flaws of Arsenal Gear in MGS2.

High pressure water cannon, not lazer from Ray's mouth. You remember in the cut scene *spoiler* ....when Rays just been hijacked? Liquid rams the head under the water, sucks up a load, and uses it to cut through the hull of the tanker. (sorry, just geeked out there for a mo..) *end spoiler*

It can be done if us humans can develop some sort of plasma generator to power the thing. The Shagohod isn't really Metal Gear, but that thing could be easily built today.
