So, I found this poem in a manga, which was a free scanlation (translated by fans and posted online). So, I tried my hand at translating it BACK into japanese! I probably totally screwed it up though...
warui no chisai kitsutsuki wa ana e tatakimashita,
Hayashi ni kuzuremasu.
Okoro kami no mori wa kare no kuchibashi,
Doku e kaemashita.
Gokuhin chisai kutsutsuki, kare no su wa doku,
Kare mo bangohan.
Kare wa sesshikimashita kare no tomodachi
To karera ni shinimashita.
Kanashii kitsutsuki, kare no chisai doku no namida ga
Kirakirakagayaiteiru to koukoutokirameku.
Which SHOULD translate back into english as...
Naughty little woodpecker knocked holes,
Crumbling the forest.
The angry wood god turned
His beak to poison.
The poor little woodpecker, his nest was poison,
And his supper too.
He touched his friends
And they all died.
The sad little woodpecker,
his little poison tears twinkle and shine
