Has anyone had trouble with trackerd. I think the process is calling this way... My husband say it is a system process but lately it has gone crazy and fills all my ram and then goes to the swap <.< my computer just stoped working I was just hopping to be another way around than "killing" it

If it is a system process then it must be a Ubuntu, my SUSE system does not have it, a quick Google search and right off the bat I get five hits that points to trackerd being very trouble some.
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=519035 http://linux.die.net/man/1/trackerd https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/tracker/+bug/131983 http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=591867 https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/tracker/+bug/130817
It sounds a lot like Beagle which is what KDE and SUSE likes to use it is very trouble some to some and eats up their CPU and Memory. The way people handle is is by removing Beagle and if they need to find something they use grep and locate. I can't say the "best" way to handle trackerd because I don't use it, but maybe you or your husband might be able to do the same thing with your system.

I think you can set a cron job to execute on system boot, and set one up as root to kill trackerd. That way you won't have to worry about forgetting to kill it ever again.
