There are some camps, made for diabetics! They only allow diabetics into the summer camp, and sometimes your counslers have diabetes too! you can go to a diabetic summer camp, family camp or even overnight camp! I go to Clara Barton Camp, a summer sleep-away camp! I highly recomend it because:
- it has a family camp, for young people first diagnosed with diabetes
- some of your counslers have diabetes, so can relate to you
- there is fun activitis such as scuba-diving which it illegal for diabetics outside of the camp!
the list goes on! I highly recomend a diabetic camp for all of you diabetics out there!

I love diabetes camp! This will be my sixth year at Camp STIX. It is located near Newport, Washington on the Pond Orielle River. I enjoy getting to go every year, and this is my third year helping. Almost all the kids are diabetic, or have a sibling who is diabetic. The same is with all the counselors. Camp is just a great place. IF you know where Spokane is and live near, you should check it out!

I've been to a diabetic camp before, but I found that they were TOO careful with you. I just found it annoying, really. But I'm sure there are some really nice other ones! I should check them out.

Bleach17_grl4_Renji is it alot of fun? i thought about going but wasn't sure about it its super fun! all of the campers have diabetes so everyone knows what its like.

i decided not to go because believe it or not everyone is different so everyone's diabetes acts differently too so i don't think they could relate besides i don't like travel or sleeping at other places much neutral

I went every year I could go (ages 8-14, but I got another year because the age limits changed in my last year). I'm really going to miss it sad Hopefully I can get counsellor training and come back as a counsellor someday ^^;;.

I'm really going to miss it sad Hopefully I can get counsellor training and come back as a counsellor someday ^^;;. That is exactly what I did! I attended camp since the year i was diagnosed until they allowed me to apply for JC. My camp allows from the ages of 8-18, but JC starts at age 16. Last year I turned 18 and became a counselor. It is the funnest thing ever and I look forward to camp every year!

you guys are lucky, when I was diagnosed, it was a month before I turned 17 - so I never really got to go. the first summer I had it I was like, "Oh psh I dont want to go!" but now I kind of regret not going. XD Sounds like funn!!
gonk my first summer with diabetes we went ot florida to Disney and my blood sugar was horrible because of how hot it was outside. @_@;

Oooh, that isn't fun sweatdrop . That's why we don't go very far south in Summer. Temperatures around here peak to mid 30s (70s F, maybe?).
I'd have applied for JC, but we have to pay $345 to get counsellor training before we can apply, and I can't spare the money right now for that. So I'm doubting I"ll get to be a counsellor since the programs for ages 15 and 16, and I'm in the last eligible year.

I luved going to the diabetic camps i always went to Eagle Lake but i can't go to them nomore crying they got way to expensive crying

I am so very excited that summer camp is right around the corner! I am once again a counselor and am ready for an amazing time! Are there any of you out there that are going to camp this year...camper jc or staff?

Camp is tomorrow CAMP IS TOMORROW!!!! I can't wait I am so freakin excited!!!!!! 5th year on staff and 9th year going....CAMP STIX is the s**t!
