Let's all show some love for Orson Scott Card, people!
Ender's Game, Speaker for the Dead, Enchantment, Magic Street, so many others, and only one dud in his whole batch of books (Pastwatch, an alt. history of Christopher Columbus)
If you want to get a feel for him, try Ender's Game or Enchantment. Both of them are light reads, and both capture what he is: one of the best character-focused fantasy and sci-fi writers out there. I also recommend Maps in the Mirror, if you aren't too squeamish.
I love his stories, and I've read almost everything he's written. I'm so very jealous of how good he actually is. So come on people. Let's show some love.
*Rumors continue to circulate about an Ender's Game movie. I've still heard nothing too concrete.*
