What you're trying to do is add a "ten-ten" - a symbol that looks like quotes ( " ) or a little 'o'/circle, in the H's case. I've never seen a Japanese keyboard, but when I've played imported games or for whatever reason gotten to write in Japanese 'digitally', you select the character (like て TE, for example) and then find the ten-ten button, click it, and it will become て" DE. I'm a bit confused, because Japanese keyboards use roman letters that just convert into kana/kanji, just like you were using Japanese IME. The only difference is a lot of the punctuation is different. (Like the apostrophe is shift 7 or something, and @ has its own key). Therefore, if you want to put で you just type "de"

Probably because s/he didn't do it properly. They just took "te" and added some quotation-mark-looking ten-ten after it. In reality it should be like the way you wrote it.

Yeah, as I said, I can't write in Japanese on my computer, so I copy-pasted your te and added the quotation mark to get the apperance somewhat right, at least.
I always did wonder how their keyboards worked.

As a note - Japanese keyboards DO use ROMAJI, but they can also be put into KANA input mode. Every key has a kana equivalent - i.e. q = た etc. If you can learn it makes typing in Japanese SO much quicker, but ROMAJI input is easier to learn so most people use it ^^

It seems strange that romaji input would be easier to learn for Japanese people.

My point though was that there was no reason to not be able to do "de" on a Japanese keyboard.
