Hey there, I am currently on openSUSE 10.3, trying really hard to get into Linux, and its just not working out for me. I am trying to do simple stuff, and the way openSUSE is laid out, it just isn't for me. but before you go and suggest Gentoo, it needs to be graphical. i need to be able to do practically everything by clicking, because i refuse to go into the terminal every time i want some program open. I may head back to Ubuntu, and change the theme so it isn't even recognizable as Ubuntu anymore. i was thinking about Debian maybe? somthing graphical, and maybe a different type of distro that i have been testing (ubuntu, opensuse, ect)

Give ubuntu another try, Kubuntu, Linux Mint, Fedora, Debian (make sure to use the stable verson unlike GodFly). Isn't it amazing the freedom Linux has to offer, if one distro (or flavor) is not what you was looking for there is always hundreds more waiting for you to try them. If you want to get an idea of the most popular distros then I suggest looking at Distrowatch's page hit counter (it is found on the right side of the page) is lists the top 100 downloaded and most visited distros. It will give you an idea of what is currently popular amongst the Linux community. Some times you will be surprised by the results
Current top five as of 03/16/08
1. PCLinuxOS
2. Ubuntu
3. openSUSE
4. Mint (Linux Mint)
5. Fedora
etc...

It also tries to have up to date news on every active distro.

BTW: from what I understand all five are good distros, even though Fedora is a bit flaky and doesn't like to install for some people... like me and one of my classmates... sweatdrop , anyways I would recomend that you give any of these a try.

Yea, i am done with ubuntu. But maybe the KDE would make it better. Thus, i will try Kubuntu right after i try Linux Mint, then i will see from there if i didn't like either of those

To make it easier for you I would suggest that if a distro catches your eye your install it in a VM to play with it. VirtualBox is a good one and you can get it and use it free, the biggest part of it is deciding which version you want to install. VirtualBox has two versions, a proprietary and open source version and the biggest difference is the open source version has no USB support but the proprietary one does.

You can get both off of their website www.virtualbox.org, and the VirtualBoxOSE (VirtualBox Open Source Edition) is on the OSS repo for openSUSE.

Some links for you to look at
virtualbox.org

You may also want to give Mandriva a try it has an almost automatic installation, easy to use, and has a Migration assistant from Windows
