Wow I'm amazed there's no topic for Sherrilyn Kenyon. the woman's got a *lot* of stuff. About 22ish books set in the Dark Hunter reality. Most of them are very good reads. I give her bonus points just for having crazy Greek gods running around driving the heroes nuts. Her take on vampires is intentionally different.

Gemiinii mentioned it in one of the other threads when I was asking about other books. But I'm glad you made the thread, what do you think of it? What is this series about anyway?

I enjoy it. It's along the vein of J R Ward's stuff, but I enjoy her stuff more. Definitely romance novels, every book focuses on a different character and how they hook up with true love. The nice thing is that she constantly drops references to both past and future characters so chances are if you liked someone they'll still get a mention in the future.
As for general concept? way back when apollo and zeus had a bet about who could make the most superior people (or something like that). Apollo made apollites, zeus had humans. well, eventually the apollites do something to totally piss off daddy and he curses them to live 27 years and no longer. A few of them figure out that if they steal other people's souls they can live longer (Basically turning them into vampires.) And so they start running amok all over the world. The gods realize there's a problem here so artemis steps up and creates a bunch of servants (dark hunters/the heroes/angsty hot guys) who can kill them and keep humans safe. Basically she chooses people who have suffered some horrible betrayal and cry out for vengeance as they die. She gives them 24 hours to take revenge in exchange for their immortal soul and eternal servitude. There is an out clause--if they find someone who truly loves them they can ask for their soul back and go through a trial. of course if they're wrong and the person doesn't truly love them they're dammed to a horrible eternity of tortured existence. So life kinda sucks for them.
The real draw character for most people I think seems to be Acheron, first dark hunter, mysterious, angsty, secretive, obscenely powerful. Over the course of the 22 stories we've learned an incredible amount about him. His book is coming out this summer. she's been writing it in between her other books for the last 17 years apparently. eek

Wow, that does sound pretty interesting. And if you say it is better than J. R. Ward's stuff then I'll most definitely like it.
