On one cloudless, moonless night, Blade and Alastor watched the going ons outside of a particular building. Earlier that week, the human had been hired to steal a few precious amulets that may be enchanted. Since then, the two have been scoping around the area, and finding out what they can of the building that housed the gems, as well as the people that worked there.

But now enough information had been gathered, or so they felt, so it was almost time to begin the actual raid. In a few minutes, the human would work on entering the shop, while the wyrm watched from the outside. Alastor's job would be to deal with anyone that may enter the shop while Blade worked inside to fetch the items.

Though in the case people were still inside, the human was prepared to deal with them as well, though hopefully in a nonlethal manner.

Shrouding himself with a darkness spell, Alastor moved out towards the alley where the backdoor was. With the coast clear, Blade swiftly moved out towards him, and worked to pick at the lock. Soon, he would be inside, and hopefully the two would not be interrupted.

A rather loud yawn protruded from the strange wolf-like creature's mouth. His two tails flicked against the ground in a mock aggitation. "You could be slightly less abhored by the whole situation.." He stated under his breath to the large horse-styled wyrm that sat a few yards from him.

We're protecting... a shop. Areikyl growled at the new game her bonded thought to play. She knew he did this just to aggrivate her. Something was always a lesson, always a new test. Sometimes she didn't know why she put up with him.

"Just why should a shop be any different than guarding a person?" His quarked brow sought to drive in the question though he wasn't all that surprised that the only response he got was a mild huff from her direction.

Arei slowly laid down with both hooves spread out in front of her. Watching a shop could be rather boring, but then again, she did understand the importance of the said items having someone to look over them.

She and her bonded were laying in the very shop. She was in a slightly more hidden backroom with Draein lazily staying in the main keep, his green eyes glinting at her through an open door. No one could really suspect that he was more than a mere pet. A strange pet nonetheless with his wolf head and paws and a more cat-like body and two tails. But, it might work well enough to keep intruders well away. They hoped.

With a familiar, though faint click, Blade knew that the door was now unlocked. So far everything seemed to be in the clear, but it seemed a little too easy so far. Maybe the area had a guard somewhere, or perhaps the area was laid with magical traps. The three amulets could be trapped themselves for that matter.

Alright... they should be further in...

Inside was fairly dark, but it wasn't enough where either of the two were being blinded. Nodding to Alastor who was to stay outside, the thief slowly stepped within.

He didn't know exactly why his contractor wanted these amulets, but he could only guess it was so he could sell them off to someone for a lot of profit. Or maybe it was for the actual enchantments. The latter made him somewhat worried as he didn't know what the amulets were to grant, and why someone would go as far as to hire a thief to fetch them.

Still, he had some obligation to fulfill the request. Besides, he could always abort the whole thing if it started to bother him too much.

Did you find it yet? asked Alastor mentally and somewhat impatiently.

I haven't even been in here for a minute. Give me some time alright?

Draein's tails flicked behind him. His eyes were closed, giving the feel of a content feline dreaming away about fish or chasing a string. In all actuality, he was hardly asleep. The sudden sound of footsteps alerted his sensitive ears. They were the first to p***k, followed by one emerald eye. Arei, we have visitors. He channeled exclusively to his bonded.

Groggingly, she twitched. Keep your eyes out.. I'll guard the amulets. Let me know what's going on. How many are there?

One... by the looks of it. Human maybe. I'm not sure his eyesight is so good in the dark. That's where we have the advantage. His tails nearly thumped on the shelf he was laying on but just as they reached the wood he pulled up on the ascent and the tail merely relaxed in place.

He kept his eyes on the single man, watching and waiting until it was the precise time to catch him. He was likely to have some means to protect himself, so the shadow being knew he had to be careful.

Things became more clear as his eyes became more adjusted to the darkness within the shop. It was hardly perfect vision, but he could get about well enough. Through the silence, he remained as alert as he possibly can. He moved slow, but not because he didn't know where he was headed. It was to make sure he could take in as much as he can, in the case something was lurking about.

No sense in bolting straight into a trap after all.

Out of the corner of his dark red eyes, he could have sworn he caught some movement. Something else was within the room with him. Despite knowing this, he did nothing to show that he even noticed. For all he knew it could have just been a rat. And if it wasn't, then let it think that he was oblivious. In any case, he would just have to be wary of his surroundings even more.

What's going on in there?

Nothing much. Something or someone is in here with me though. Just keep watch. If I'm lucky, it'll just have been a rat and I'll be done with this soon without strife.

Draein's head raised, the being had noticed his presence. Though to his advantage he didn't think he had spotted him yet.

What's happening?

He still doesn't know where the amulets are yet. You'll know what to do once he finds them. The creature stood up silently and walked through the shadows. He was now at the man's side, drifting in the darkness as he watched.

He wondered if he might warn the boy to stay away, it might save a lot of heartache in the end.. as he was sure a battle may or may not ensure at the rate it was going. Slowly, he stepped into the light, his black coat shinning as his eyes met his.

Anything going on outside?

Nothing.

His eyes caught movement once again, though this time it was coming from straight ahead. It wasn't a human, but some sort of feline, but that didn't make him lower his guard just yet. Narrowing his eyes, Blade placed a hand over the hilt of his sword, staring into the creature's eyes as it revealed itself more.

As he wasn't sure if it was just an odd looking cat, or something much more sentient, he didn't say a word. In any case, he didn't want to have to resort to violence, but he had a task to take care of.

There's.. a cat-like creature in here. Staring at me. Can't tell if it's a threat yet though.

The creature tilted it's head to one side and let out a yawn as if dumb. It's two tails twitched behind it. It came closer but eventually stopped to lick it's paws. Prepare yourself Arei... I have a feeling that he's not going to stop until he has them.

The female wyrm's head snapped around and she just barely caught sight of Draein toying with the boy. That idiot... She stated to herself though she wouldn't have been surprised if Draein caught it.

What is the deal with these amulets anyhow?

You should remember one quite well... the charm with the black onyx. The very one Lilias had..

Areikyl nearly croaked but somehow managed to keep herself from crying out. That one?! You brought me here to protect that one?! She was steaming now. A distant thought crossed her mind to help the two thieves just so she could be rid of it once and for all. But she knew the power of the necklace and what it could do, it was for that reason she never wanted to see it fall into the wrong hands again.

The very one. Draein seemed unperturbed about her rash behavior concerning it. He just merely continued to play dumb around the thief. Letting out a small cry as if hungry.

((For the record.. Blade's 20, so he's an adult.. ^_^; ))

Blade's hands twitched slightly as the creature came closer, but he wasn't quite ready to relax as it seemed to be some odd housecat. Keeping his brow furrowed, he watched it carefully for a little longer.

Alastor.. I have a bad feeling about how things are going to go. I don't think we'll have any trouble from the outside...

Just give the word and I'll back you up. It's getting rather boring out here anyway.

Stealing wasn't the only thing this particular thief was capable of. He could hold out in a fight on his own normally, but something in the back of his mind gave him the feeling things won't be easy if he were to get into a brawl of some sort.

Slowly, he began to sidle around the creature, keeping his eyes on it.

OOC:
I figured.
But to Draein everyone is a child.
xD

The creature sat down, merely watching the biped he gave a low yawn. As the man neared the room his eyes suddenly became aware and he raised his head with a knowing purpose. "I don't want a fight... though I wouldn't advise going after the amulets." He had meant it about the fight. For some reason he didn't get an aweful feeling about the two-legger, he almost rather liked the man which was rare for him. However, he couldn't any less let the amulets fall into the wrong hands.

Arei listened intently to all that went on in the other room. She too, found her feet (or hooves) and stood up. She was getting rather bored and just wished that whatever happened would occur already.

((Ah I see. XD))

Narrowing his eyes as the cat spoke, Blade then knew for sure it wasn't just a dumb creature that prowled around the shopkeep. He tightened his grip on the hilt of the sword, ready to draw it out if needed, but like the other, he didn't really want to have to fight.

"Neither to I," he whispered lowly, "But I took up this job, and I plan on completing it. I don't know what's up with the amulets exactly, but I don't like quitting while in the middle of things..."

There was more to that of course. Such as the fact that another reason why he hadn't declined the offer to do the job. The thief didn't like to constantly steal from the food stores and such which mean he needed coin so that he could actually buy it. He also didn't really like dealing with pawnbrokers very much... always haggling with him to try and give him less than what things may be worth. But being someone who enjoys stealing, he would steal things for others in return for payment...

Meanwhile, Alastor remained outside, keeping his shroud spell up. He awaited hearing from his bond in the case he could rush in and subdue any guards or whatnot. With his ability to put things to sleep, he was potentially better at restraining others without injury. His bond had to make due with either knocking them unconscious or disabling them some other way.

"Sadly, I figured you would say that." His ears twitched back in a sudden distaste. Sighing, he lowered his head. He hated fighting, almost more than Arei did. He knew she wouldn't forgive him for making her fight for a cause that certainly wasn't hers to begin with.

"The amulets you seek are a measure of three. They can heighten magical abilities, and one even the characteristic of good or evil. It was used upon my own wyrm once a long time ago. Perhaps, that is why this is a personal goal of mine. Regardless... you won't be leaving here today with them." His voice was withdrawn to the matter but no less authoritive.

His whole body rippled as if a wave moving along the ocean. In an instant the wolf creature grew in height and stature, standing on two legs. A man with hair as dark as night itself now stood before the boy. Lifting a pale tattooed hand the three amulets now dangled from his fingers. "Catch me... if you can." And just like that he disappeared from the shop with the man's job.

Blade hadn't expected the wolf to shift into a human, nor did he expect the amulets to be within his possession. Dark red eyes widened as he was about to lunge forth, but the man disappeared without a trace. With his chance of being able to live decently well for the next week.

****! Alastor, a guy with dark hair, pale skin, and a tattooed hand just vanished the shop with the amulets!

You're kidding me. grumbled the shadow wyrm I'll see what I can do to track him down then.

With that said, Alastor began to scout out around the area looking for signs of life. There was the chance the person with the amulets was still close by after all. And it was his best bet for locating him.

Meanwhile, the thief gritted his teeth and scanned the area quickly to make sure the guy was really gone. Within this search, he chanced upon the room a wyrm was stationed in, which had surprised him further. Exactly how powerful were these amulets if this much caution was put into it for keeping them safe? And why was his contractor after them?
PostPosted: Wed Mar 19, 2008 9:34 pm

Areikyl let out a deep sigh when the man entered the room. She shook her head and walked right passed him, only cocking her head in his direction. He left, didn't he? She thought she might kill the shadow. The idiot that he was.

Her tail flicked behind her. You can try and track him down.. but not even I can tell you where he fled to. She didn't honestly know why she was even being civil with the man. Frankly, she didn't care. She was being lazy today, lethargic and just wanted to rest for a change. She had missed her usual routine of being alone for the night and now that Draein was gone she felt she might finally be able to relax.

Still, in the back of her mind she almost thought to help them. It would be interesting to for once do something out of the ordinary that was expected. Turning her back to him, she left the room wide open for him to steal anything else that was left over.

Draein reappeared on the top of a cathedral roof far from the shop. He sat down, his legs dangling off the edge while letting the charms dangle from his fingertips. Shaking his head a bit, he could feel Areikyl's aggitation to the whole situation. He knew without her to back him up the two would either find the trinkets or hound him until they did.

Blade watched the wyrm walk past him and out the room. He assumed that since the thing she was probably guarding was gone, that she had no reason to remain here. Shaking his head, he sighed and glanced around. Sure there were plenty of trinkets that he could snag here, but he only came for one set of things. And they were in the hands of that shapeshifter that vanished.

It irked him, but he took a moment to think about what he should do right now. He could just drop the whole thing, but he still wanted to at least fetch the items and decide from there.

While wandering out in the streets and keeping a sharp eye out, Alastor grumbled lowly as he wished his wings were actually of use for flight. But he just had to make due with keeping to the ground. Muttering to himself, he didn't find anything near the shop, so he went on to search farther away.
