Probably has to do with the wires in the cable. I bet the wires have copper in them and thats why they took them. Copper is realy highly valued right now. If thats not it, then I dont know
But with phone and internet, wouldn't you assume that it is fiber-optic cable, not copper (usually used for electricity)?
But I do know people that are rummaging everywhere for copper wire. Soon we will be mining our landfills for all the things we threw away thinking that it wasn't important.
Where do you sell stole phone wire anyway? you can't walk up to AT&T and be like "hey I found this, you guys want to buy it?". I guess you would take it to Sprint first, anyway.
