Mbali had again been basically put in charge of looking after the cubs. He loved them though, of course it had been his and Bari's 2nd chance but yet they still weren't really the perfect parents. Mbali stayed near by this time though. He was going to stay and help with the cubs and even once they had grown he was going to stay and prove to Bari he loved her.
Today he had decided to go and rest down by the watering hole, his daughters and son were off somewhere though he wasn't quite sure where it was they were. They turned up every now and then, it was normal, they are after all cubs!
He just took the time to relax and rest before those lovely children of his turned up!

 Kandi was a restless little thing, but then a lot of cubs tended to be that way, at least until they started to mature a bit. It was highly doubtful that Kandi would EVER grow up though. She took too much delight in the playful side of things and any idea of having to be serious was horrifying.
She was also quite solitary, revelling in her own company since no one else could muss up her ideas or plans then. If she wanted to play on a rock, she didn't have to share it. She liked it that way. The only ones she'd ever share with would be her father or mother.
And ahoy! She spotted one of them! It was her father, with whom she shared the white pelt and splotchy markings. She charged straight for his behind and pounced onto him!
"GOTCHA DADDY!" she giggled with glee.

Mbali had heard his daughter coming, of course he did not know what ones of his cubs it was but he could smell them and hear them so he knew it was one of his. He was delighted to hear Kandi's voice, she was such a sweetie.
"It seems that you have. How are you today then Kandi?" He smiled at his daughter. Oh this litter was just the most gorgeous litter ever! He wasn't going to mess up this time. He was going to make sure all his children knew that he loved them.

Kandi continued to scramble up his backside until she sort of wobbled and balanced on his back, eventually flopping down to resemble an animal pelt. She looked just like she'd been squashed onto her father's back!
"I'm good...I've been an explorer today! I have been EVERYWHERE!" she crowed proudly, even though 'everywhere' to cub wasn't actually everywhere. She'd get to see more when she grows up...IF she grows up.

Mbali smiled down at her, insterested in what she had been exploring.
"Oh have you now? Tell me all about your adventures then! I must know what my darling little girl has been upto!" He smiled though he couldn't really see her, straining his neck as far as he could but realising your neck can only move so far. Oh well he could feel her on his back and that was good enough for him!

"Well..." she began, rocking and swaying and wiggling, as all kids do when they're full of energy. "I started near some trees that had bits of bark missing, like they'd been chewed or eated. And then they were close to some really big boulders that are fun to hop across and jump and then there was lots and lots and lots and lots of GRASS!"
Kandi took a deep breath after saying word after word in an endless stream of excitement.
"I got lost in the grass though, it was fun and scary at the same time. I couldn't see the sky for a while!"

Mbali listened to his daughter chatting away and just laughed. Oh what a funny thing she was!
"Sounds like you had a wonderful adventure! What were you doing when you pounced me and scared me?" He chuckled, of course his daughter didn't scare him but no harm in helping her imagination grow a little now is there? That and he did so love his children, he wasn't going to mess up this time.

Kandi had somehow scrambled further up her father's back, making a beeline for his think mane. As soon as she was there, she literally just smushed her face into it, rumbling happily and treating it like a big soft blanket or pillow.
"Well, I found my way out of the grass and then liked this swishy-splashy sound. And it was this water in the ground! So I followed it, and then found you!" she finished her story, mumbling into his mane on occasion.

Mbali chuckled he did have a funny daughter.
"Fair enough."
He then couldn't resist doing something, slightly mean for such a small cub but well... he was allowed to be playfully mean, she was his daughter after all! So he sat up, making his back something of a slide for his daughter who seemed too interested in his mane to pick up on his intentions before he did it. Whats the harm in a little playing?

Kandi was indeed caught totally off-guard! One minute, she was comfortably ensconced in her father's billowy mane, the next, it felt like her feet had gone from beneath her! It wasn't scary though. It was...quite fun!
"Whooooops!" she sort of yelped and laughed at the same time, tumbling to a stop when she hit the ground with a thud.
She got to her feet quickly and scurried back to Mbali's feet.
"Again! Again!"

Mbali laughed and laid back down so that his daughter could scramble back up but he wasn't going to do the same thing this time. Can't do the same thing twice now, it would get ever so boring!
"Hop up then missy!" He chuckled planning what he was going to do next.

Kandi smiled and giggled hysterically, clambering back onto her father's back. She even shuffled around so that this time, she was facing his back-end and her belly was low, ready to just slide paws first.
"Okies, go! I'm ready!" she said with a smirk.

Mbali waited for her to say she was ready and then started running about, jumping up on rocks and down again. He moved as fast as he could though he spent the whole time checking that his daughter was still on his back. He expected her to fall off but hoped that she wouldn't.
"Wooooooo!" He laughed, yes he loved having a relationship with his children!

"WAH!" she yelped for a moment, digging her puny claws into her father's back just until she'd got some kind of hold on him.
Thats when she fell to her stomach on his back and she crawled to his neck, where she wrapped her front paws about his neck, as if she were riding a wild horse. His thick mane offered even more purchase and she was soon comfortably ensconced and having a wild time!
"This is a different game daddy!" she yelled with delight,

Mbali chuckled somewhat as his daughter laughed on his back. This is what he wanted a family to be like. This was perfect and oh how he adored it! He was so happy to be able to spend time with his daughter it was perfect.
He carried on moving, pouncing random things before he landed somewhere and laid down so she could get off him if she wished. He needed to get his breath back, it was hard pouncing in a way that would make sure his daughter didn't fall from his back.
