Due to the nature of this guild, I've been considering switching the privacy level of it to hidden. This woudln't affect any of our day-to-day things, but it would prevent those who are not members from reading the forums. It would, however, still show up in guild searches and the like.

What do you guys think about it?

In the end, the decision might not be yours, but you are the reason why the guild is what it is. In any case, I'm curious to know your stance on the issue. Your vote is appreciated!

whee

For a week or so, we'll be hidden, and see how that goes. I'd love some quote suggestions for the first page!

I know I will probably be getting a lot of flak for this, but anyway, here are my two cents on the issue: I can understand a lot of reasons for keeping your interest in BDSM secret and hidden... but it has to be said that all of them are a form not only of cowardice, but of deception... of not standing up for what you truly are. And in the long run (this argument has been made long and wide in the gay and lesbian communities) it hurts everybody else who also has an interest in BDSM.

So, folks, let's be open about it.

I'd love to be able to live in your ideological world, but I'd rather freedom than fame. You are more than welcome to be public about your identity.

Who has more freedom? The c**k, who crows at the sun each morn before pecking for food in his pen, or the eagle, who quietly rises and soars wherever he pleases? The city man, who proudly declares himself a communist, or the small group of people quietly sharing all they have in the middle of Nevada? Who is happier?

*staggers with the blow*

"your ideological world"? Ouch. wink

I hardly think it's fame I'm seeking. And do you really think there is freedom in staying hidden? Your eagle image is kinda cute but hardly honest.

The only reason I think people should be able to preview the forums is because I wouldn't join a guild without knowing the content. Most guilds say that their boards are mature and deep and it all ends up being children with under developed opinions. I think we owe it to the public to be able to see what they are getting themselves into.

I see what you're saying Shy.

Perhaps this could be solved with a few quotes on the main page?

My concern is mostly that some of us (at the time, mainly me) have lives outside the community, and would rather not have it all be so public.
