All i really know is that i can easily pick up by bass with one hand...it's a half size and even a young child can easily pick it up.... what kind of wood might my bass be?

Definitely not maple(my bass has a maple neck and weighs about 12-13 pounds because of it). Could you describe the wood or post a picture of the bass?

Most likely would be basswood or alder.
