I want to get a tatoo of a celtic circle with a willow tree in the center. I can't find anything for or against tatoos in any wiccan texts but I just want to make sure I am not missing something.
Edit to post: (to stop the future head biting.) I want a tatoo, what are your opinions on them and if you have/want one what do you have/want to get.

confused No, there isn't anything against tattoos. Though I must say, if you want to get a tattoo done, I don't see why you'd check if it's against your religion. I've never heard of tattoos being against someones religion. Maybe what a person gets tattooed on, but not the tattooing itself. it's kind of a silly thing to be worrying about.

About getting a tattoo? No offense but...that's a bit childish. You shouldn't tell people anything just to see how they react. Tattooing isn't anything special these days, everyone does it.

Actually i saw something on the news a while back about the shiite religious sect in pakistan is against tattoos or any body mods, and i believe that taoisme is also againts it because its a perversion of what the gods have given you. personally i dont think tattoos are un wiccan in fact i have three tattoo and two peircings and im gonna get more soon.

Err...I wasn't talking about other religions though. I was talking about Wiccan religions. I don't see why she would check. If she doesn't know if it's against her religion or not, then it probably isn't.

I know it's against some religions. I also know that within others it's required. Also, you're wrong, the Shiite pretty much ALWAYS put tattoos on their bodies, usually on their shoulder.

I don't think there is anything against tattooing in Taoism either. I found this that makes it seem like what you want to do is fine.

As far as Wicca, etc goes, I don't see why it would be against the religion. Sure, tattooing is painful, but it is a way to express yourself and possibly your beliefs. I know in the Mormon church, any kind of piercing or tattooing is frowned upon, though I don't think it's really against the rules...Can't say for sure, though.

It's not against the mormon religion. It's discouraged, but not "illegal" so to say.
There are a TON of middle eastern religions and oriental religions, if you want to be able to claim you know this tid bit of information you're going to have to know the specific name. It's not a good idea to be telling people information that might not be right if you don't know the names of the religion, that's how arrogance starts. Someone reads your post and then goes around telling people this information and then when someone tells them that they're wrong they get pissed at you.

bite my head off there leena and no its not illegal to get one on your hand wiccan boy, but it does make it harder to get a job, as for poistioning thats up to you, a good starting point for anyone to get a tattoo is the upper arm where its easily hidden and it doesnt hurt much there either.

I'm just pointing out the obvious. If you want to claim you know something about a religion you might want to fgure out what the religion's name is before you go around telling people that bit of info.
Actually, in some areas it IS illegal for tattoo parlors to give tattoo's on hands and/or feet. In some counties tattooing is COMPLETELY illegal. Tattooing laws are county to county, so you'll have to find out either at the tattoo parlor or just find out online.
If you go to the tattoo parlor they can sketch it out on your hand to give you some ideas and they tell you what they suggest. I'll tell you right now though, getting a tattoo on your hand is going to hurt like a b***h. The thinner the total layers of epidermis there are between the needle and bone there more it hurts. Also, since we use our hands a lot for feeling things the nerves are extremely sensitive, especially on the BACK of our hands. The most painful places to get tattoo's are your hands, feet, neck and chest. I don't know where you live, but in Waco, Texas there is a GREAT tattoo place called Big Daddy's Tattoo Parlor. One of the guys there, Spanky, has a really light hand (he did mine). What should have been somewhat painful for me felt like someone was writing on my back with a buzzing pen. (I have an extremely high pain tollerance though and I got mine on my back) I got quite a bit of yellow in mine too, which is saying a lot. If you live anywhere near there I suggest you go there.

this wasn't supose to be a forum for arguments. It was supose to be a place for people to share their personal art. I don't want people to fight because of something I wrote.
