Hey, I was just wondering what kind of "mom and pop" coffee shops you have in your city?
Where I live we have an awesome place called Double Shot, and I have yet to find a place better. They roast their own beans and even the drip coffee is amazing... and what they can do with a mocha should be a sin. So good.
And if you live in the Petaluma, CA area, where can I get good coffee when I go to Dillon Beach in the summer? I've been looking every year I'm there, but I always end up in Starbucks, which makes me cry inside.

Local shops are the best.
There are a few here that are amazing. I like the custom drink specials that they come up with too.

Regrettably the ones we have in town these days are all uncomfortable; packed with too many akward tables and crowded computer terminal counter seating...
Once upon a time (10 years ago) we had a beautiful coffee shop called The Talisman Cafe. It was THE place for everyone from older journalists and photographers, to young folk with sketchbooks and big plans...
A few years back the new owners decided to relocate as a restaurant to a hotel across town and now our central hub has vanished.
It was truly the heart of our city. crying
I hope once I move I can find something like that again. neutral

I have a place called The Sweetest Things which is a cafe and bakery. I don't like their syrup drinks as well as Starbucks because I feel they're too sweet, but they have good smoothies, and a great atmosphere. Also, they have a great selection of beans for sale... I always get the "yemen mocha".
At school, there's a place called "Method" which has great organic coffees and teas. The coffee is great, the indoor atmosphere is modern and cool, and the patio is heated/cooled and features live music. Also, the sipping chocolates are SO GOOD.
