Basic Overview
The Black Fang is an extremely wealthy and resourceful “Mercenary company” who have clients inside the Galactic Federation and the Terran Nations. Founded by legendary assassin Brendan Reed in (20 years prior to main storyline), the Fang has developed it’s own fleet of mechs and battleships. While the Fang doesn’t have much of a reputation for the power of their mechs, their pilots and captains are trained aces- It’s been rumored that one specific member, a man by the name of Haar, is skilled enough to beat a trio of modern Mass-Produced Gundams with a Oblivion war era Ball. Statistically, nevertheless, Fang mechs are the most underpowered units used in the galaxy, and most of the battleships barely hit middle tier.
However, the main strength of the Fang is in their ground combat. All members are trained extensively in all forms of combat, with extreme focus close combat. The Fang claims that any of their Myrmidons can hold their own against a Jedi Knight, although this theory has never been tested. The Fang also trains members in long-range combat, explosives, and engineering. Any member can perform any form of assassination required by a client, although some are more skilled in some forms than others.
The Fang divides its members up by two classifications- How skilled they are with specific weapons, and how efficient they are in general. The divisions are as follows:
Pikeman -> Halberdier -> Sentinel Fighter -> Berserker -> Reaver Shaman -> Druid -> Summoner Mage -> Sage -> Archsage Myrmidon -> Swordmaster -> Trueblade Pilot -> Ace -> Godsend Spy -> Assassin -> Whisper Gunman -> Sniper -> Marksman Armor -> General -> Marshal
The Fang is currently led by it’s founder, Brendan Reed. Those directly below him are his wife Sonia, who is an Archsage, and the Four Fangs, which consists of Lloyd Reed (Brendan’s oldest son and top Trueblade), Linus Reed (Youngest son and top Reaver, behind his father), Ursula Lynd (Top Archsage behind Sonia), and Jaffar (Head Whisper). Below the Four Fangs are the leaders of the other classes, at which the ladder of authority branches according to the different methods of authority used by the classes.
While the Fang is best known for its assassins and the combat skill as a whole, the Fang has been known to take any number of jobs, from escort missions to acting as a military force as hired by political leaders and military generals, to personal bodyguards, for a price. There’s been rumors of entire planets being bankrupted by the Fang’s astronomical rates, even before the Fang began using the contracts that Brendan’s personal lawyer put together, specifically designed to milk an employer for every nickel, dime, and quarter the Fang can get out of them without the employer catching on.

Classes
Pikeman -> Halberdier -> Sentinel Weapon: Lances The Pikeman class is almost made entirely of former soldiers, namely from Bern. they are the third most popular class in the Fang, although this is mainly because most professional soldiers of Elibe prefer lances over any other weapon. The ranking system in the Pikeman class is lifted directly from Bern's own advancement system, though the soldiers are not as strict as their enlisted counterparts, nor are they as strict as the more disciplined armors.
Fighter -> Berserker -> Reaver Weapon: Axes The second most popular class amongst the Fang. Typically, fighters aren’t very clever. As such, many of the Fang’s strongest fighters never make it past Berserker class- An aptitude test must be passed as a requirement for moving up to Reaver class. Next to Myrmidon, the most popular class, the Fighter class has the most straightforward system for rising in the classes- They must score a specific level on a strength test, which measures the force behind a punch thrown by the test taker. Brendan and his son Linus, who are both Reavers, have been trying to find a better system for changing classes for years, as they feel the current system is pathetically bad in testing a Fighter’s combat ability.
Shaman -> Druid -> Summoner Weapon: dark magic, knives The Shaman class are practitioners of Dark Magic, which have been likened to the force powers used by the Sith. The class division is very simple- Shaman can only use basic Dark Magic spells, Druids can use more advanced skills, and summoners can summon a summon spirit at will. Very few have the capacity to even make it to Summoner- Many in this class are actually druids, most of which have pupils in the Shaman class. Shaman, like Mages, are taught how to use knives as a last resort.
Mage -> Sage -> Archsage Weapon: anima magic, knives Those in the Mage class practice Anima magic- that is, magic of the elements. The division of the first two classesis the same as it is in the Shaman class. However, in order to become an Archsage, rather than summon a summon spirit at will, the tested must successfully infultrate someone’s mind. All interrogations in the Fang are performed by Archsages for this very reason. Ursula, one of the Four Fangs, is an Archsage.
Myrmidon -> Swordmaster -> Trueblade Weapon: sword Myrmidons are the most popular class in the Fang. Behind mages and shaman, who must study years of text to learn even one spell, and Pilots, who are required to have degrees in Mechanical Engineering, Myrmidons have a record for being the most intelligent in the Fang. The Class system is very simple- 20 registered kills to become a Swordmaster, and 1000 to become a Trueblade.
Pilot -> Ace -> Godsend Weapon: Handgun, Martial Arts Pilots in the Fang are most well known for their piloting skills rather than ground combat ability, with one or two exceptions. However, all pilots are also trained in a martial art of some sort in case of a hijack or attempted assassination- which isn’t uncommon, as Politicians have attempted to “purge” the Fang before to cut any loose end that might lead to a public outrage and the official being recalled or overthrown. It’s easy for Pilots to become Aces- all that’s required are 5 registered kills. To get to Godsend, however, one must not only register 50 kills, but also pass a series of tests that include minimum reaction time, coordination, quick thinking, and so on. Because of such rigorous standards, 80% of Godsends are Newtypes and Jedi outcasts.
Spy -> Assassin -> Whisper Weapon: Anything under the sun...s The most controversial class in the Fang. Spies are trained to use any kind of weapon they can find on the battlefield, from crowbars to C-4 to knives to sniper rifles to a closet door, ect. Typically, assassinations are carried out by those in this class, with a few exceptions. In order to become an assassin, a spy must successfully carry out two assassinations. The ranks of the Whispers consists of a small council of the top 10 Assassins- when one dies, the remaining Whispers vote on which Assassin(s) should replace the dead.
Gunman -> Sniper -> Marksman Weapon: firearms (all types) While a rarity amongst the Fang, those trained to use guns have been known to have incredibly high accuracy, even under fire. The requirement for becoming a Sniper is to be able to hit a target the size of a melon from 600 feet, and Marksmen must hit a target the size of a dime from 1/8 of a mile. Some Marksmen can even hit such a target from a full 3 miles.
Armor -> General -> Marshal Weapon: Lance -> Lance and Sword/Axe Armors are less known for their weapons than their heavy armor (As their name implies), which while typically weighing them down and making them slower, is also known to take a great deal of abuse. It has been rumored that the armor is proofed against Armor-Piercing rounds, and has been shown to on at least one occasion survive an anti-tank round (The one wearing the armor, however, had been killed by the penetration of the shell.) Advancement amongst the Armor class is similar to that in the real military- Armors are known to be the most strict members in the Fang.
(Woops. The first one should be 600 feet. I'll fix that...)
