Its by Tanya Huff and she has two series, a Blood Series and a Shadows series.
Blood Ties, the television show (which I never go to see) was based on the books.
It has the lovely Henry Fitzroy in it and it is defintely worth checking out.

The series is okay. It's not the best but not the worst.

I like the book and the show was only on for 2 season. I like the show as well.

I've never read, or watched the series. I read through the synopsis though, and it doesn't sound like my kind of thing.
