Ebi was a small town to grow up in, but it had been lively in its own gentle manner. Z'ara had quite enjoyed the rural way of life. Her family were fishers by trade, as were most in the town since such was their primary export. Subsequently, fish was also their primary source of food...to the point that it grew dull as a staple.
Z'ara walked along a cobblestone path, smiling and exchanging a few pleasantries with other kira. It was not uncommon to know everyone in the town, and she prided herself on knowing them all...whether they were deserving of such or not.
A few minutes later and the kira had come to a favored spot amidst the beach. Lifting her nose, she breathed in the salty air as though it calmed her. Laying down in the white sands of the beach the sun shone down upon her, causing her fur to shimmer in a manner much like the pearls that she adored. Closing her eyes, she listened to the gentle rumble of the waves against the shore.

Chewie had not grown up in this area at all. In fact he was a drifter. All of his life he was an outcast among all because he had wings on his back. He was what they called an angelic kira. To him he was just like everyone else. He didn't know what it meant. But apparently it meant a lot to the local people.
He had walked through town mostly drawing odd side glances and people who didn't really understood him or really seemed to care for him. He just walked on. He heard this place had great fish and when he sat down at a restaurant and ate he was not disappointed. It was a while before he left that place as he did he could hear the ocean. It called to him. As he walked out he strolled on the beach casually.
He soon stopped and squatted down watching the waves come cresting into the beach letting his paws get wet. He enjoyed the feel and quite frankly, he enjoyed being in and around the water. He looked around and noticed another kira but to him it didn't matter. They would be another person to shun him.

After several long moments of resting and relaxing on the beach, Z'ara finally forced her eyes to open. Now was not the time to fall asleep and the waves would easily lull her into doing so. Casting her eyes about the shore, she spotted the lone kira. The light rippled across his fur and accentuated the vibrant tones.
Drawing herself to her feet, she quietly walked towards the shore though keeping her distance so as not to startle the kira. Lightly she padded against the water's edge gazing at seashells. Occasionally she would collect them, but today she was curious by this new kira.

He looked up and noticed her and he nodded towards her. Just another greeting to another person who saw him as strange or completely weird. He pawed at the dirt a little reaching down and playing with a seashell before encasing it in a bubble and gently rolling it around in the air in front of him.
He noticed that she kept stealing glances at him and finally he was getting a little unnerved by it. He finally decided to say out loud so she could hear him. "I wish people would either say hello to me or quit staring. At least polite conversation helps ease the feeling of eyes burrowing into me"

Both ears lowered as she caught his voice on the air. For a moment, she paused in her tracks somewhat disheartened by the rudeness coming from the male kira. Dipping her nose down to the ground, she looked for seashells. Within but a moment she had one between her teeth, holding it there as she walked over to the male.
Dropping the seashell on the ground before him, she lifted a paw up as if in greeting though her ears were still lowered and her tail hung limply behind her. "Welcome to Ebi...I'm Z'ara." Introductions aside, she sat there feeling awkward, her good mood dashed.

He smiled as he saw the seashell and gently pawed at it before he bowed his head his ears perked up and his tail wagging back and forth as he smiled "My name is Chewie. And you are the first one to welcome me to Ebi and not hide your children from me or just stare at me. Thank you"
He turned his head and out of a pack he had hidden under a wing he pulled out a small trinket as he pulled it out and set it in the sand in front of her. It wasn't anything special. Just a necklace he had made some time ago but since she had given him a gift he felt he should give her one

Laughing softly, her ears once again perked up. "Nice to meet you Chewie. I don't have any children to hide from you, sorry. Just ignore the others, we don't really get all that many visitors here...they just don't know how react to it is all." Smiling, she watched quizzically as he pulled something from his wing.
Turning, she stretched out a paw as if to touch the wing, but did not dare. He was the first Kira that she had seen that had wings. Carefully she pawed at the necklace on the sand, lifting it up so that she could place it about her neck. For a moment she admired it, smiling to him before giving his cheek a soft nuzzle. "Thank you."

He returned the soft nuzzle that having been the first contact with another kira he had had in years. He smiled softly towards her but laughed as she said what she said. "Well then, I will do my best not to take offense to them. " He gently pawed at the ground obviously nervous as he looked at her.
"So, are you a traveler here like myself? Or are you native? " He then realized how incredibly rude it sounded. He blushed and down-turned his nuzzle as he said just loud enough for her to hear. "I'm sorry, I don't mean to be rude or obtrusive in your life. If you don't feel like answering me I understand."

Lips spread into what passed for a grin as she slowly pulled back from the kira, the exchange meant as a friendly act. Wiggling her nose, she watched as he shifted nervously. Slowly she sank down to her haunches, gazing at him.
"I am a native. This is Ebi...we're predominantly fishers. It's a quiet little place; we rarely get travelers. If you want, I can show you around...if it helps." Smiling, she pawed at the sand, drawing random shapes.

He smiled blushing rather visibly as he hid his face for a second before nodding his head. "I would rather enjoy that, but if I can ask a small favor from you." He held a paw to his tummy and blushed even brighter as it made a growling sound.
"Can you take me to the best place to eat first?" His blush must have burned heat around them for it didn't appear to dwindle or anything

Laughing softly, Z'ara lifted from the ground, her tail wagging. "Of course." Grinning, she gave him another soft nuzzle, because she could tell that he was blushing. "Race you." With that she took off, heading towards the town at a full run, her fur swishing in the wind.

He took off after her blushing greater but his wings were up as he was keeping pace with her. He looked over at her following her a half step behind. He was making sure to rush after her knowing she could easily lose him. As they snaked as he could see the restaurant she was going for he tucked in his wings and breezed past her screeching to a halt as he panted softly now half way out of breath. "I think I win. " This time as she got close enough he nuzzled her cheek to make her blush hopefully. He knew though he probably failed horribly

The way Z'ara ran she could hear the wind whipping about her, could feel it tugging at her fur. Other kira stared after her and the traveller as they passed by in a rush. Dipping her head down, she continued on the familiar path until suddenly she saw the shadow and drew her backside down as she skidded to avoid slamming into....Chewie. Blinking, she gave a soft nuzzle back before prodding at a wing. "Not fair...you had an advantage." Grinning, she gave him a soft look before padding around him and into the restaurant.

He followed her in laughing softly as she had pointed out his wings and winked at her. "Nah, I just streamlined myself. You know, tucked my wings back and ran. So it was ...... mostly fair" He was telling a half truth. He had wiggled his wings to give him a speed boost as he knew it would be her who won if he had not. He looked at her as they were shown to a table and he smiled "So what is good?"

"I see." Laughing, she settled into a cushion. "Well, I figured almost everyone has tried a variety of cooked fish...But with the fresh fish we have here...I thought you might like to try something new." Grinning, she ordered for the two of them. "If not, I can get you something else that might be better." Moments later a waitress had returned with a platter of finely sliced raw fish atop small beds of rice. Aside from the array of raw fish, there were a few hand-rolls of cooked fish and crab to the side. "Care to try some?"
