Like all writers, my greatest happiness in writing is when a review comes in saying how much they enjoyed reading. It makes you feel so warm and fuzzy inside, lol. Flames...not so much. Then there's the odd ones, where you don't quite know what to think of it.

The worst review I think I ever had was, and I quote,: "Whoo! You up in dat hood, fool!"

...I think I'll take it as a compliment. Maybe? I dunno, lol.

I'll meet that review and raise you a bad one I recieved on a different site.

"F****** classis! Loved it!" Now, maybe I'm just viewing it differently, but how that could be seen as helpful, aside from an ego boost is beyond me. I don't understant how anyone can think that using profanity to express how much they liked something accomplishes anything... and there's the "5/5" I got once... on a site that has a rating system built in.

The worst review I've ever gotten? Well...*half tempted to look through the old reviews* 'Eh, there's none that really made me cringe away, but I've had my fair share of annoying ones.

For the most part, I get the reviews that simply say, "Kawaii ^_^".

There have been a few flames every now and then, and then there are the ones that basically say (in craptacular typing) "Lol, that was great, write more!" Not to say that these are bad reviews, but at the same time, they're not really appropriate. Especially not when the fanfic in question wasn't supposed to be seen as cute and or amusing...

I had one person tell me that I sucked and should just get off the internet. Of course it was written with bad grammar and spelling, so I told them the day I get off of the net is the day that they learn to spell properly.

I handle reviews very badly if they are rude. I have a habit of getting snarky and mean right back.

I know how you feel. I think there are people who go on the site just to shoot writers down. If it's criticizing, then that's different. At least their giving an opinion. Saying to just 'get off the internet' is cruel, and I'd take 'em down a notch myself, especially if they're 'anonymous'; meaning they've probably never posted any of their own work on the web.

@ Shiguya: People who use profanity in their reviews just annoy me to no end. Just proves how far their vocab can stretch. Lol, I've never gotten a rating before, but you mentioned it was built into the site. What site(s), besides the obvious, do you post on?

@ Dahghos: I agree, and I also can relate to how you felt about that one. I had one of those as well, stating something like, "OMG, cute!" *is feeling too lazy to look right now ^^* There's nothing you can even take out of that!

Lol, I like to answer back to everyone I can, so sorry if that set up was a bit annoying. Oh, another thing that just drives me mad, is when they make up words. I got a couple just the other day, actually. One said, "This is awesomnest." followed by another that simply stated, "Wakka." O.k, I can handle a typo, which I'm sure the first one was (I've had reviews from the same person before; they are actually quite literate), but what in the world does 'wakka' mean?

Mine isn't so bad. The worst review I've gotten would have to be when one person said "lovely" and that's all. The same person has left better ones in the past, so it's fine. But because of my sister's use of the same word, I'm not sure if they're being sarcastic or what.

Also for some strange reason, I get slightly annoyed when my cousin reviews things. A few of the times she's reviewed are ok, and she doesn't do it much anymore, but she's just such a big suck-up that it bugs me. She just doesn't always sound sincere.

Hmm... I think the worst one I got was where the reviewer didn't even have enough guts to log-in or leave a e-mail address to reply to and said i had no character development when it was the first chapter -__-'
Plus they even said i was bragging and arrogant when i've never bragged nor been arrogant about my writing XP
I figured this "anonymous" reviewer was someone whom i may have critiqued for and took it negatively.
But that doesn't bug me
xd

normally i don't have bad reviews unless it's on a delicate subject or it's from this one person who signs anonymously with different names, but they all have the same writing style... this person always say things like i have cheap thrills and it sounds like a jerry springer episode waiting to happen, WTH?!

the other ones i hate are those that lack the ability to come up with a good plot so they review to tell you every tiny little grammar mistake...

i don't mind the short responses: 'good' and such but i'd wish they write more!

One review that bugs me is that someone complained about language...in an AU high school fic. I'm sorry but reality check: we did cuss a lot in high school. That's why the fic's got a T rating.

I either don't remember horrible reviews or blocked them from memory. The worst I ever got was from the KHI forums, where these two people told me my grammar was mud and that I should either die or find something to do offline that I'm actually marginally good at. I suppose I shouldn't have been partially advertising my awful KH fanfiction (it was like four years ago, what did I know?), but all three of us got busted. Always helps when your good friend is a mod there, 4laugh

Luckily my current fanfictions are too serious and grammatically sound for the casual tard to read, so the only reviews I get are from people who I either know or have been following me for a while. And I treasure every one of their reviews, even if it's like...one per chapter.

I haven't really gotten any review like "OMG YU SUCK GO DIE!". The closest I've gotten was (on a drabble): "The first one was dumb, but these two I like.". I didn't really mind, though, because I agreed with that statement.

The ones that annoy me are when people say something like "sweet...", and they don't say anything else. I'd prefer if more people actually say why they like the story, so I can know to keep those elements in the future.

Of course, I'm being completely hypocritical with that one. I'm a lousy reviewer for stories I like...

The worst review I've ever received was on my Superman Returns story, "The Eye of the Storm".

In my story I had a scene where Superman and Batman (a la Christian Bale, not the other ones) had a little run in with each other.

The reviewer (of course, anonymously), said that I'd written Batman all wrong, that the two characters would never have interacted like that, and that I really should go read the comics if I wanted to portray him accurately. I get irritated just thinking about that stupid review.

I've never gotten anything that I would consider a bad review. Even the ones that just say "Cute," "write more please," or "I didn't really like that." I like getting those. Reviews or comments are all precious to me since it means that my readers are enjoying the story enough (or care enough to let me know that they didn't enjoy the story) to take time to leave a review or comment. If they leave a detailed review or comment on something specific, I take that to heart and fix the problem, or decide that I like the problem the way it is and leave it alone. After all, ultimately, I write to entertain my readers, so if they're happy, I'm happy.

Now, I will also say that I've been fortunate enough to never have been flamed. A flame would piss me off, but I wouldn't let it stop me from writing.

I find that pretty hilarious, as they're both based off of the movies and not the comic books. It's just not the same thing.

(I'll probably be flayed alive for reinterpreting Captain America and Spiderwoman in a PWP fic of mine)

I would say my worst review was one from a random reviewer saying that "Wow, that chapter was sexist."

I have no idea what they were talking about, but oh well.

He he he...

I found a review who only said. "you suck and your fic too. Thanks for the $ (peso)"

SO I understand that te review was from some user from a forum... a forum where the users read fics about fandoms that he don't like just for talk bad about them!!

(they say that are "like proffessional" critics, but the topic that I wrote was full of answers like "I don't know too much about PotO but..")

I said that they have no life if they read fanfics about something that doesnt understand... and I give him one $ for getting a life.

LOL

I was very confused about another that said "you have to write a story whit *this very complete plot*". Why you don't write it? If I'll write it, surely it would be not enough good for you...

Sorry bout my poor english sweatdrop
