Hey there!
I don't know if this is in the wrong topic, but I needed people to see it... for advice.
I am confused. There. That's where I'll start.
I've been very confused with my "sexual preference". I don't want to go into detail, but frankly, I think I'm leaning towards Bi. It's been bugging me for a while, and I don't know what to do. I'm just noticing this now.
Don't forget I'm a Christian, and I would like to hear some advice... not condemnation please.

I completely agree with Guardian, regardless of whether or not someones sexual preference is godly or not, God loves you. Therefore, even if Bisexuality, or Homosexuality was a sin, God's love "overrides" it.
I myself have been openly bisexual for a couple of years now, and have found nothing but an accepting and tolerant atmosphere at my church. It may or may not be different at yours, but it's okay. God loves you and that's all that matters.

In truth, I have a gay friend, and I even support his gayness. He's told me you can't just become gay overnight. It's already in you when you're born. So maybe you're just having a phase, and would probably be over it soon.
While God does want us to be happy, we show our love for him by respecting his laws.
God loved and still loves the Jews, and they've broken His laws so many times. He's punished them, and I believe is punishing them still. In the Bible, He forgives them when they've repented. Then He promises a better future. This has happened many times over and over again, yet God is stlil so patient with them. But His patience is not a good reason to keep on doing something He's told us not to do.
God's "Love" is Jesus dying on the cross with our sins pinned on Him. His death overrides our sins, if we are 'washed by His blood'. Even so, this is not a good reason to keep on sinning.
It's also not right to say homosexuality is okay with God, when the only thing He's told us in the Bible is that it's not okay. It's really not right to override what He's said just to satisfy our wants and desires.
God knows we're human, our lives are very short, and we're easily lost and confused, so He's very patient with us. He would fight so that He won't lose us. I don't know if bisexuality and homosexuality and supporting it is overridden by His love. But as all the Bible said about this is that it's not okay, I wouldn't risk it if it's just a phase.
However if you're really serious about this, think about it really, really hard.
These are my points of view. Even so, I still support homosexuality, and my friend. But yeah, I'm wondering if doing so is really the right thing. I don't want to lose my friend, but I don't want to disobey God. So...

First and foremost, God made you and loves you exactly as you are. He wants you to become better always, but no matter what kind of person you are, he will love you. If you decide you're bisexual, God loves you and if anyone ever tells you otherwise, they are not in touch with God's message of love and grace.
That being said, sexuality is a broad spectrum rather than just gay, straight, and bi. Most people go through a phase of bicuriousity as well. There's some spetrum (Fushigi, being a pyschology major probably knows the name of it, but I don't. Haha) that place complete hetertosexuality on one side and compete homosexuality on the other, and most people fall somewhere in the middle, so you may actually be 20/80 or something. I, myself, find women much more physically attractive than men, but I identify as straight.
You may have already put a lot of thought into this- I'm not sure. Give it time, and it may pass. And it may not, and that's okay too.

Yeah...I do still stick to the idea that it's a sin.
But I also still stick to the attitude: "let he who is without sin throw the first stone". Who out of any of us is in any place to judge? Only God and so long as you still love Him, He loves you, as well.

Only God and so long as you still love Him, He loves you, as well. That's where the main part of my problem comes from... I know it's a sin, and gross in God's eyes, and I know it's a choice, but I don't know... it just seems natural. Really, I'm at a loss...

Just don't worry about. Chances are, it might even resolve itself when you stop thinking about it so much. In order for God to help you with the problem, you have to let it go. As I said, we are all sinners. And throughout our lives we will still continue to do it. No sense in beating ourselves up for it. We just have to give it up to God and pick ourselves up and move on.
I'm pretty much walking into pretty shady territory myself... I'm doing it anyway and just trusting that if I'm starting to cross any lines, I'll be drawn away, somehow.
Don't wory, everything will work out in the end.

GuardianAngel44 Hey, whatever. God accepts you as you are. Why shouldn't we? Picture this. You are a refiner of silver. You have just had the best idea for a great and beautiful peice of art, made of the brightest and purest silver. You go buy some silver to work with, and it is FULL of impurities. Then you decide, "what the heck, I can make just as nica a peice out of low grade, dirty, tarnished, impure junk." So you don't refine it. Highly unrealistic, no? G-d EXCEPTS us as we are, but then He purifies and shapes us. But only if we let him. This line about tolarance and 'G-d excepts us as we are' is getting on my nerves.

1 John 4:7 Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. I have posted in a great many 'is homosexuality a sin' threads, and always I find myself with the same answer: God made you as you are. Your sexuality is a BIG part of who you are. He made you to be YOU, no matter how flawed you see yourself. Do I think being gay/bi is a sin? Personally, no. I refuse to believe that the God I love and worship would play such a cruel joke. I don't see anywhere in my quoted passage where he says "except you guys over there." God created us to be beings of love. What gender you love has never really been specified. I know that the guild is pretty split on the sin issue, so you'll hear both sides. All I can tell you is to pray on it. If you find yourself falling for a woman, I say good for you. If you fall for a man, good for you there too. Finding someone to love, and love the way God intends, is a difficult thing. Don't put restraints on yourself that need not be there.

It says it's wrong in several places. To name a couple: Romans 1:24-27, 1 Corinthians 6:9-10.
Though, "Let us love one another" is also a good one for some of us here, if we're getting sick of hearing about tolerance and God accepting us as we are.
Dude, that was just uneccesarily harsh and very unChrist-like attitude. She still is still doing her best for Him and that is what matters most. confused

Its accepts, sorry grammar nazi.
It sounds like you're saying God doesn't accept everyone. He IS tolerant and he does accept and love us exactly as we are. No doubt he wants us to become better, but if we don't, no matter how far we stray, whatever we do he accepts and loves us and saves us exactly as we are.
To say God is not a tolerant God only confirms the stereotypes Christians are given.
I, personally, am still trying to figure out exactly how I feel on the homosexuality issue. All I know is this- God is the God of love. He loves us and we are made to love him, and love others. There's a part in the book Blue Like Jazz (amazing, everyone needs to read it) where the author describes how his friends says that he and his wife show one another God's love. He sees God's love for him in its purest form through her and visa versa. I just cannot imagine God having a problem with anyone loving someone.

Shizuka_Haruka133 Thanks you guys!
I think that's confusing me a lot as well. He says it's wrong, but it seems so natural. I've had lots of Christians say, "It's a choice" as well... confused It may feel natural because its are sinful nature. Just as lust and fornication fuels are natural passions, its still disobedience towards God. I myself have a issue with lust because it troubles me every single day of life. Its desires seem unbearable and it paralysing at times. I can't imagine what it is like for you and others struggling to repent through these desires. Remember this, these passions and desires are nothing but worldly, perishable, worthless troubles which the Devil will try to make us stumble before God. I pray dearly that everyone here will fight the good fight and defeated the fiery arrows of the Devil. In Christ there is victory!
