Aelous laid at the top of a small cliff under a shady tree. There was a slight breeze that made the lush, green grass seem to bow back and forth. He blinked his white eyes as he stared out as the sun started to set. His face was full of seriousness and he seemed to be focusing on something important, though in reality he wasn't really thinking of anything at all. Though a thought passed his mind from time to time.
He lowered his eyes and looked down at what was under and in front of the cliff. He sighed and closed hsi eyes, just some more green grass that eventually dissolved into a beach which obviously led to the ocean. Aeolus frowned more, dissatisfied with what he saw. No matter where he looked he never saw anything better than what was already there. Life was meaningless here as it was everywhere.
He unsheathed one of his paws and raked at the grass a little with his claws, impatient for the sun to set so he could leave. He hated missing the sunset as much as he hated waiting. Truthfully, Aeolus didn't really have anywhere he needed to go, but he was impatient to leave this average place anyways. He wanted to go look for the place where he might find what he's always looking for, something that gave life a little more meaning.

It was almost spring and the sun was shining warmly, and a little brown and white colored kit with tiny golden horns was pouncing happily to catch a butterfly. Theia had spent most of the past hour chasing after this particular butterfly, it always seemed to be able to fly away from her. Of course this could have been because she kept on getting distracted by the nearby grasshoppers before persuing the chase again. She batted at the little butterfly happily, but the butterfly was still out of her reach.
After several long moments of chasing the butterfly, Theia collasped onto the grass breathing heavily and pouted. Why couldn't the butterfly behave and let her capture it? She closed her eyes and tried to take a little nap. Just as she was brooding on and on about the butterfly, it landed right on her nose tauntingly. Theia felt a tickling sensation on her nose and slowly opened her eyes, she was staring straight at the bright yellow things that seemed to flutter. She gasped and held out her paws to grab it, but just as she was about to pounce on it, the butterfly dodged her and caused Theia to crash back into the ground.
Theia got up grumply and stuck the dirt out of her fur and looked around for the bright yellow butterfly. It didn't seem to be anywhere. Then, in the corner of her eyes, she could see something yellow in the shade of a tree. She trotted towards it. Soon, a dark blue ulaya with a butterfly design on his face came into view. Theia squeeled happily and started to bounce around the ulaya in a circle. The butterfly that she had been chasing for the past hours had magically changed into a ulaya!
"I caught a butterfly that can change into a ulaya! I caught a butterfly that can change into a ulaya!"sang Theia happily as she continued to bounce around

Aeolus blinked, he looked like he was ignoring her but in reality he didn't even realize she was there, after a moment he finally noticed the small ulaya that was bouncing around him insanely. He narrowed his eyes and scrunched his nose, not wanting to ask what in the world she was doing. "I'm not a butterfly, and I'm not sure if you're a sane ulaya." He then turned his attention back to the sunset.
Then the bright yellow butterfly that Theia had been chasing around landed on the tip of one of his ears, opening and closing its wings once or twice as if fickle, then closing them and resting. Aeolus didn't move, but in a flash one of his arms went up and a second later the butterfly was caught between the grass and his paw, his eyes were still fixed on the sunset. "Is this the thing you are singing about?" He removed his paw, presenting the butterfly as it scrambled around in the grass unevenly and without balance, the opposite of the grace it has when flying. "You better get it now if you want it, before it recovers and flies away." Aeolus hoped that if she was satisfied with defeating the butterfly then she would leave him alone.

Theia was just bouncing around and around when the butterfly-ulaya had spoken. She gasped, the butterfly that she had caught could actually speak a language that she could understand! She had been just about to voice her delight when what the ulaya had said hit her. He wasn't a butterfly? Disappointment wasted over Theia as she started to pout again.
"Nah, I am pretty sure that I am pretty sane."said Theia nodding solemly still brooding over the fact that the ulaya before her wasn't a butterfly. The voice of the ulaya shook her out of her thoughts as she saw the little yellow butterfly appear right before her eyes. Theia gasped delightedly, her eyes were as round as dinner plates as she stared at the ulaya before her. The ulaya was no butterfly nor a normal ulaya either, he was a......
"BUTTERFLY GOD!"shrieked Theia in delight scaring the bright yellow butterfly off as she stared at the ulaya.

He raised an eyebrow, slightly doubting it. A person can claim to be sane but really be a crazed nut job. Aelous frowned, he probably was crazy too, even if he acted all too calm, he must be driven off the wall by the ulaya around him, luckily there weren't a lot of ulaya around him though. Aeolus looked back towards the sun as it touched the water's surface, oh how slow a job it was taking, Apollo must have felt very mean at the moment. Pft, as if he exists...
Aelous blinked, blankly staring at the strange ulaya. "...Oh yes, I'm a god alright, the god of the wind though, Aeolus, son of Hellen." Of course he wasn't, but he felt in the mood to just go along with whatever the kit said. He sighed and shook his head, "who are you and what do you want?" He asked impatiently. He was not so used to a kit's hyper-activity and excitement, it scared him to wonder if he was like that when he was a kit, it was possible since he didn't remember his past all too well.

Theia was still grinning in triumph at finding a butterfly god and happily bouncing up and down again for several long minutes as the butterfly god thought over something.
"You aren't a butterfly god?"asked Theia pouting, but then brightened immediately, her eyes popping,"But wind gods are cool too!"she shrieked happily right into Aeolus's ear and paused confused,"Then why do you have butterfly markings? Is your mother a butterfly goddess or something?"asked Theia curiously and noticed the strange ulaya's other question,"Oh, my name is Theia......and I don't know what I want."she finished rather confused again.

Aeolus winced and lowered the ear she practically deafened. "I have butterfly markings because I just do." He said irritatingly, rubbing his ear, eventually perking it back up once the ringing went away. "Well, Theia, don't you want to go home to your mother...?" He wondered if he could persuade her to leave him by making her think her mother is calling, the kit seemed gullible enough to believe he can hear her mother's voice traveling through the wind.
He mentally sighed, staring at Theia's horns, wondering if she knew what they were even for. They're obviously for scaring off creeps like me... Aeolus blinked, her personality was scaring him away already, she didn't need horns. He mentally sighed again, though he hasn't had any company in a while, he might as well make the best of it. she was just a kit, no need to be rude to her until she was an adult.

"But why? There always has to be a reason why."said Theia tilting her head curiously. She wondered why she didn't have any butterfly markings. She shrugged, and said,"My mother? She's somewhere with Father doing yucky stuff. They keep on licking each other and being all yuckily, romantic."said Theia making a disgruntled face. It was rather nuseating watching her parents being so romancy.

"No, there doesn't, there isn't a reason for life, and if there was I don't think anyone knows what the reason is." He frowned, perhaps his tactic wasn't going to work. Aeolus scrunched his nose once she described her mother's love life with her father, "charming. Like I really needed to know what your mother does in her spare time." The thoughts made his skin crawl, it was disgusting how some ulayas could like each other to the point where they are licking the dirt from another's fur. "Theia, you do realize though... once you find someone you love like your mother loves your father you will be licking them to no end too, right?" Love doesn't exist, it's just another term for being too good of friends.

"There's no reason for life?"asked Theia curiously. "Aren't there a bunch of reasons for life? Isn't it just lovely chasing butterflies on this warm spring day?"asked Theia happily as she continued to bounce about and paused,"Well, if you see that there is no reason to live, why don't you just commit suicide? Wait.....I don't think you could because gods are technically immortal...."She said rather puzzled.
She looked up into those silver eyes as the voice spoke again,"Oh really? I don't think so, watching them do it already makes me vomit. That's never going to happen to me if I can help it....."

"That's not a reason to live, that's how to live," he said, looking at the sunset again, "it's like the saying, people don't live to eat, they eat to live." He sighed, "and I would commit suicide, but I've still got hope and am searching." Aeolus frowned, "I'm searching for a reason to live, haven't found it yet though."
He looked at Theia again, "you're a kit, you wouldn't understand. And I'm a cold-hearted fool, I wouldn't understand either. Only your mummy and daddy would."

"Don't be that pessimistic!"said Theia pouting annoyingly, and continued,"Chasing butterflies is a reason to live, it is an absolutely wonderful way to live."She said nodding vigorously. "Anyways, maybe the reason to live is right before your eyes and you just don't realize it."
"You are a cold-hearted fool? I thought you was a wind god. Who are you really?"said Theia raising an eyebrow. He wasn't a butterfly, he wasn't a wind god, and now he was a cold-hearted fool? It didn't make a single sense. Perhaps he wasn't even Aeolus? It was so confusing that it made Theia's head swim for a while. She paused and said,"Well, that's for Mother and Father to understand, I can understand it later, not like I ever want to."

Aeolus blinked, "well perhaps I'm just blind. I told you already, I'm a fool. And why can't an ulaya be both? Can't I be a fool and a god? Can't I be a pursuer of happiness and someone who is just waiting to leave this world? Can't I just be who I want to be?" He twitched his tail and looked back at the sunset, it was almost finished. "Life is a just a predicament that was just forced upon some people, and I have to go now."
He got up and began to pad away, in a random direction. Kits... number one reason you should just stay away from 'em. He thought, knowing that she probably was going to have an understanding of her parents one day whether she wanted to or not. A chance I'm never going to have, thankfully.

"What, what, what?"asked Theia confusingly, she had been lost by the end of the first sentence of Aeolus's boring speech. The only thing that she caught was Aeolus was blind and that he was going to go now.
"Ummm.....Aeolus?"She said uneasily trying to indicate the fact that he was going to walk into the think trunk of the tree. Perhaps he was really blind?

Aeolus sighed, "I'm not blind, it was a figure of speech, meaning I'm blind to comprehend what I see, or something like that. Either way I can see perfectly well, so don't worry about it." Yes... kits and their short attention spans and understanding of things. Aeolus continued padding on in the random direction he chose. If I were blind though... I'd really be screwed, so good thing I'm not. He blinked, I'd sure miss a lot if I couldn't see...
