Has anyone read The Da Vinci Code? I wanted to, but I can't find it in my local library and I don't have the money to buy it. I've read the first couple of pages. Reviews?

It is an interresting book, though written like a cheap dime store novel, with suspense and plot twists every 3 chapters or so.

Of course, that's not what you really care about, is it? Okay, first off, try not to belive a damn thing that is written in this book about religion or history, the best thing to do if you are intregued is to do your own research and read some accredited theological history books such as Holy Grail Holy Blood, on which the book is based (badly). The one major fault in this book is that people tend to forgfet that it is a work of fiction. It is simply a novel. If it should encourage you to question you're "faith" or attachment to a church, so be it, but don't rely on this book as your source for religious renewl..

Let it also be known that I am myself an Atheist, and still view this book with suspicion (historically though, it's a mess of pseudo-facts and lies)

Oh dear. Enjoyable book, only as a work of fiction however.
I once had to argue with about 7 or 8 n00blars on this very site about this amazing concept that there favorite book might truly be fiction. *gasp*

Would this said favorite book be the Bible?

Once I organized my shelf by author, and I had a bible there.. so I put it under G for "God"

Then I split towards a different spiritual path and put it on my mom's bookshelf... next to her other bibles.

[Mildly Amusing]

Oh no, the Da Vinci Code. There are far too many people that treat it as Gospel. The Bible still is my favorite fairy tale though.

It (the Bible) is a good read...for a work of mythology based on some fact ^_^

Ah, The Da Vinci Code.

It caused my mother to go and buy Holy Blood, Holy Grail, and about 50 million books on Mary Magdeline. rolleyes

The book kept my busy for a day. I preferred Angels and Demons over TDVC, though. It was better written. Both were fairly easy reads though. Good for rainy days or during classes when you're supposed to be taking notes.
Dan Browns other two books, though, Deception Point and Digital Fortress were.. crap, I think. Nothing interesting. Digital Fortress was a waste of braincells, and Deception Point was boring as hell. confused

Well-written and entertaining. Please treat it as a work of fiction and not a psuedo-Bible.

Angels and Demons was much better than The Da Vinci Code, and when I finished it, I amused myself by trying to recreate those brands.... xd
