The lion yawned, a soft roar escaping his chest, paws stretching lazily toward the afternoon sky, white belly warmed by the sun, thoughts lost in the dreams of an afternoon nap. It was a beautiful day, peaceful, calm and quiet, something it may not have been not so long ago in the days when the sleeping lion had been a cub. In those days he had rarely stayed still so long, terrorizing the lands with his cubbish antics.
Not that he didn't still do his fair share of terrorizing. Even as he had grown into adulthood, Shin'Jougen had in many ways remained a child, never truly maturing past his teenage years. But today, today was a day for napping, for enjoying the warm sun and the cool grass, to let his mane ruffle quietly in the quiet breeze, to wake up only long enough to watch a cloud float by before drifting off to sleep again.
It may have seemed a nap was better enjoyed in the quiet of the den, rather than the open of the pridelands, away from the possible interruptions of passing pridelanders. But in recent times, Shin had taken to spending as little time at the family den as possible, returning only for meals and nighttime sleep, preferring to stay away from the crowded space and the bickering of teenage siblings.
Here it was peaceful, the perfect day for an afternoon nap.

Well while somebody was "slacking" off on the job, Katiti certainly wasn't. She'd spotted her intended victim some time ago and cautiously, cautiously stalked. Since cubhood she'd been honing the skill of stalking, wanting to be able to get the jump on ANYONE. Well, she still wasn't at THAT point yet, but once in a while lady luck would play in her favor too. Today the winds kept her scent hidden from his general direction. As the female prepared to pounce (with absolutely no care or regard for the fact that it was a stranger who was about to be harassed) her only thought was on how loud he would scream when she took him but utter surprise.
OHMYGODOUTSHEPOUNCED!!! Paws outstretched, letting loose a young, but most definitely lion roar as she aimed to land on the poor boy head on.
Harassing random, complete strangers was, after all, the best way to get the most shocked reactions.

Tufted tail flicked lightly, ears twitching in his silent dream. He might have thought the shadow were simply a passing cloud, that is if it weren't for the sudden roar that pierced his ears. Eyes shoot open, ears laying flat against his skull, his own growl instinctively leaving his throat. What the hell?!
There was no time to question or respond. Barely had he heard her before she was on him, his dark form pressed into the earth by the attacking adolescent. His first thought was that it must have been Kivuli, or, less likely, one of his younger sisters, deciding his nap was the perfect time for some mischief of their own. But as orange eyes glared into blue, he quickly realized that he had been wrong. This lioness was unfamiliar, and while he may have seen her in passing before, he did not know her. Then why the hell was she pouncing him?!
The male growled, eyes narrowed at the intruder on his dreams. Paws raised, pushing her away with his fore, kicking with hind, using his larger size to his advantage to flip her over his head onto her back.
"Get off me!"

Kati wasn't at all put off by the narrow eyed glare, nor the growl, not even his attempt to throw her off. In fact, she wasn't put off at all, and though she did grunt as her back landed hard in the dirt, shortly after she was laughing it off, smirking and rolling to her paws again. Tail lashing behind her it was obvious she wanted to wrestle, play, whatever.
And oh, but this lioness had certainly "crossed his path" once, though she'd been older, and not nearly so "crazy". Her mother, in fact, though Katiti had no knowledge of this herself and it might be doubtful if Shin even remembered, the encounter had been random and likely not significant to the youth at the time... But oh, the irony mother nature seemed to favor!
"Come on! What's the matter, does the little girl need her beauty sleep that badly? Get up, lazy butt, the day's a' waistin'!"

The lion snorted, tail lashing in irritation, glaring at the young lioness. Crazy girl, as if he didn't have enough irritation at home, why else would he be napping out here in the grass? Whatever.
He had turned away, fully intent on ignoring her, wandering off to continue his nap elsewhere. He wasn't especially interested in whatever game she wanted to play, nor was he sure he even wanted to know what sort of game girls liked play or why she even though he would care. Besides that, he had been having a peaceful dream, though now he couldn't remember it, and she had interrupted it! Irritating! Of course he was grouchy now.
Stopping in his tracks, the lion spun on his heals, glaring at the lioness with an angry snarl.
"What did you call me?! Oh, that's it."
A moment later he had lunged, swatting at her with a soft paw, his head lowered to impact her chest, intent on tackling the annoying little brat to the earth. He'd show her just who was the girl here.

This time the girl was ready for him. She smirked through narrowed eyes as he lunged, and she simply ducked down as low to the earth as she could get before pouncing up and at him, paws outstretching in an attempt to wrap around his middle to wrestle him to the ground with his own momentum to throw them both over sideways. Who knew if it would work, maybe she was too small in her age, but lack of size didn't stop her from trying.
"Least the lady's got some guts! Huh!" She grunted, refusing to give in, not really bothered that he was genuinely angry, it was all in play to her.

He growled in frustration, jaws snapping harmlessly, more in a vent of anger than an attempt to bite. He'd have expected such tactics from his brother, but from a girl? Just who was this girl anyways? And why did she insist on pouncing him?! ARRG!
Though momentarily through off his guard, Shin did still have the advantage of size, and while she may have succeeded in catching him, he would not surrender, nor would he allow her to drag him to the earth as he had attempted to do to her. His body twisting, the lion reeled, bucking furiously in an attempt to shake her grip, to toss her to the ground and away from him. He raised a forepaw, swatting at the lioness, reaching out to snatch her tail, maybe then she would let go.
"I said get.off.me! You annoying little...what is your problem?!"
Irritated though he was, he would have never truly wished to harm the lioness. Perhaps if he took a moment to think and stopped worrying that she was a girl, he might have actually enjoyed the game. Was it really any different from the wrestling games he had enjoyed with Totoro and Kivuli?

Katiti didn't back off though she heard the snapping jaws, she didn't even back down when he managed to land a blow with his paw, harmless as he intended it to be, nor did she back down when he snagged her tail (Though she did yowl with a furious feline cry). She just glared at him over her shoulder and tried to get at whatever part of him she could reach, despite his hold for now, stubborn.
"I don't have a problem, unless you count a severe lack of backbone in the population! What are you, afraid of a little wrestling match?! That grumpy about losing out on your nap time?" She snorted, gritting her teeth against the discomfort as her movements caused her tail to yank in his hold. She swatted at him and attempted to grab hold of him again, growling. "Or are you one of those pushover tree huggers?" She snorted, glowering, though not so much angry as annoyed at her assumption. "What a damn spoil sport!" She snarled. She thought that at the very least maybe insulting him a little more (Nothing serious, of course) would provoke their impromptu wrestling match to go a little longer, but it seemed like he had her beat and she wasn't willing to admit that, so instead she sought a way to get HIM to back off without her having to, in hopes that she could at least find someone that WOULD take up her challenge.

An irritated snort, eyes narrowed angrily. Him, afraid of her?! Not! She was the one that had woken him from his nap with a pounce, it was her, a stranger that had started this 'game'! Did she really expect him to be nice about it? To just say 'oh hi, nice day for a game' and let it go? Of course he wouldn't! And as far as he was concerned he was perfectly justified in being angry at her. As if she'd have reacted any differently were the situation reversed.
"You wish I'd ever be afraid of a little girl like you. Now get.off.my.back!"
He emphasized each word with a yank of her tail, ending with a powerful kick of his hind end, surely strong enough to finally dislodge her and send her back to the earth, or at least to her own paws. Turning, he stalked toward her, his breath broken in short pants.
"You really are annoying, you know that, like my brother."
The lion shook his head, crazy girl, though he had to admit he'd never known a girl that would pounce a complete stranger in her own silly game before, seemed more like something Kivuli might have done. Or at least he didn't think he knew any girls that would do that, except maybe Jahina, whatever.
"Who are you anyways?"
Now that he thought about it, she looked familiar, but he was sure he had never met her before.

"Hmph."
Kati couldn't stop the pained yelp as he yanked her tail, nor the tears that sprang to her eyes out of surprised discomfort. YOW! That smarted like hell!
She growled even more, claws flexing forward from her toes as she resisted the very strong urge to dig them into Shin's side. Loosing her hold, WHAM, off she fell, backwards to slam down on her back.
Afterwards she took a few moments on her back to try catching her breath from that brief, intense struggle.
"The name... is Katiti... -bia." She panted softly, rolling almost slowly back onto her paws to stand, giving a full body shake, ignoring Shin's irritation if it really still showed. "I'm Kimya'ukilia's daughter. What of it? Who are you?"

His expression softened, irritated glare fading into startled surprise. Kimya'ukilia? Why did that sound so familiar, he was sure he had heard that name before. Oh, right, now he remembered, the lioness he'd showed to the waterhole. So that's why this lioness looked familiar, well they certainly didn't act anything alike.
The lion shook his head, snorting as he realized he had been silent in his thoughts. Whatever, as if it really mattered. It didn't change the fact that she was totally crazy, completely out of her mind actually.
"Shin'Jougen. And maybe next time you should ask that before you pounce someone. Or better yet, just don't bother."
Another snort, eyes narrowing to glare once again, as if daring her to try that again, when he was awake, she certainly wouldn't catch him off guard then. Yet despite his expression, if he were to admit it, he wasn't truly angry, she had after all broken the monotony of the afternoon. Heh, maybe he'd even try for a rematch sometime, or maybe he could just get her back for it now, smirk. Or maybe later, for now he had better things to do and dreams to return to.
