When studying standalone kanji, should I study every single Onyomi and Kunyomi reading, or should I just study the more commonly used readings and learn the rest as I see them get used in conjunction with other words?

For example

" 正 " has the readings Sei, Shou, tada, and masa. Do I memorize all 4 when I learn it, or can I leave some until later?

On another note, can anyone recommend some good online/printable basic reading material to improve fluidity? (furigana is always nice, but not necessary)

I personally never study Kanji like that, since many kanji can have the same exact reading you only end up confusing yourself, well at least I do. I like to learn them in compounds, it helps so much because you're actually learning them how they are used. Now yeah you don't know all of the readings right away but as you learn more words just make sure you check the kanji for those words, if you know the kanji just not the readings, then it's time to learn the new readings for those kanji since you are now learning that new word.

This is simply what I've found works for me, but if you find learning all of the readings right away works better for you, then do that. The best thing that you can do though is try out multiple methods of learning and see what works best for you, well anyways good luck! And if anyone else has some nifty ideas on this subject I personally would love to hear them!

Learn the readings with words(and sentences whenever possible!). Some of them are upper level, so don't don't need to learn all of them at once, but I don't think a beginner would be able to tell a common reading from a less common one...

For 正 you could learn

正月 しょうがつ January
正確 せいかく accurate
正しい ただしい correct

But, basically if you're using a textbook, it should have vocab and examples for the kanji... if it doesn't, you can look them up on your own.

http://www.jlptstudy.com/ Has grammar sentences for JLPT3 and 4, and they'll be using kanji for those levels. They also have words for each kanji.
