I've been watching Shirow's new dominion tank police... and I kinda found it really interesting how a lot of things from it are in GITS...
they both take place in newport city.... just differnt time lines.. aparently alot of the characters from dominion were used in the first GITS movie... but they were pretty much background characters.. (ex: the two secretary girls that Aramaki orders around are from dominion) and some characters are near mirrors of some of shirow's other characters...
so I guess I am saying, if you like GITS it will be a nice treat to watch dominion...
