self explanitory.
my own reasons are there different little creatures to other rodents ive had such as guinea pigs/hamsters and mice.
there playfull snuggly and appreseate what you do for them they even say hello to you (thats by yawning and rasieing a paw yup its proven thats how they say hello to each other).
also proven is they can laugh (to high for us to hear)
also proven is there smarter than some dogs and cleaner than cats (domestic rats that is).
they even purr (bruxing)
o yes and shoulder rides very companeony.

I have had rats for 11 years. I love the little animals so much. When holding my rat I always become very relaxed. My rat always makes me feel better when I am sad. I always feel loved when holding my rat. I love rats because they are as friendly and outgoing as dogs and cats but they are more compact. I also like rats because they are not as likely to bit. My rats as also very friendly towards kids. They are just sweet little animals <3O~

I love rats soooo much! They are my favorite pets.... EVER!!!!! =D I have been keeping rats for the past 5 years..... They are soo awesome! I refuse to listen to anyone who thinks that they are gross..... they are not!

My fuzzies have always been companions for me...they sleep on my shoulder and eat my food and I used to travel a lot and they were always with me. I love them because they love you and love you and just love you more!

They are absolutly gorgeous (and in some cases cute) creatures. Rats make good friends, and are just a joy to have. With their high intelligence it makes your friendship more meaningful-- with some animals they stick around just for the food. But if a rat sticks around you rather than running off to play with his friends you get the sense that he really is fond of you.
My boy Nathan has been such a cuddle bug, and I've never had a pet so close to me ever since my cat Pathces died yeears ago.
It's hard to explain, really. I just love them (: They're flawless to me, and I can't wait until I'm able to go out and buy/rescue more ratties when I'm 18yrs old.

Too True! Cats and dogs and such can be so much alike sometimes but it seems that every rat is soooo different.

i myself have only had the pleasure of rattie companions for about a year and a half now. though they are for sure a pet i'll always have from now on. at the moment i have i think 34 pets, 9 of which are rats. and i love how one of my guys HAS to make me his territory, he marks me every few seconds, and everything i touch too. another loves to get pet, he'll nuzzle up to you like a cat for a scritch. my favorite though is one of my girls, star. she loves to be tickled and get belly kisses, she follows me like a puppy and plays peekaboo and chase. i like getting sick, neglected, or unwanted ratties and raising them and watching their personalities blossom. they're just beautiful animals. and their tails are so cute!

Hey, this is me... New, new, NEW account.
Since then, my precious Nathan has passed away. He left me the day before Christmas Eve, and I still miss him more than anything.

I'm sorry about your Nathan, it's very hard losing ratties...No matter how old they get I can't help but see them as babies because of their size and that makes it harder on me than losing a dog or cat

my rat is so adorable and snuggly. she just loves attention. when she runs around the room, I'll shake the treat container and she'll come running to me. the funny thing is though she only comes for attention, and ignores the treat I'm trying to give to her. ~ heart
