Two students arrested after notebook found. ...I think the police department missed the part where Quote: The show is about a notebook in which if a person’s name is written the person will die. and Quote: nothing was found to indicate the students planned to carry out any type of attacks. They obviously just wanted Death Notes OF THEIR VERY OWN!!!11 (And really, who can blame them? I'd like one myself.) Should I be amused, enraged, or embarrassed? (Embarrassed would be because I have family from there -- my dad emailed me this.) Or all three? xp

that's pretty old news. But yeah.... it's pretty stupid of them to take it so seriously.
I can understand why they would overreact (what with the school shootings, etc). But if they found out it was just honestly all about a TV show, and that the students actually were just having some fun... they should just let it go.
Summary of my opinion: Yes, they should look into any possiblity, but they shouldn't arrest first and then ask questions later.

With all the school shootings that have happened over the past several years I can see why a Death Note could be misconstrued as a hit list. Yet still this incident reminds me of the 2 men arrested for hanging lighted signs with characters from "Aqua Teen Hunger Force" on them in Boston. The police panicked, and jumped to the conclusion that it had to be terrorism instead of advertising. rolleyes

I actually had my dad get me one from an online store so that won't be my problem soon.... Ah I remember that incident with the "Agua Teen Hunger Force" XD so rediculous..

It's no stupid, really. Because there have been incidents like this everywhere. In Belguim, there was a killer late last year who murdered someone, and left pieces of that person's body in a park. On top of them was a note stating "Watashi wa Kira dess". Which is a misspelling of "Watashi wa Kira desu", or "I am Kira". If I had the link, I'd send it. Then, there was an episode like this in one the northern states. With all of this going on, plus all the violence in schools, it's understandable why the authorities are taking this seriously.

I understand what Loveless is saying. I'd feel it were ridiculous if they were really trying to just get a Deathnote, but the fact that they were writing people from their area in the books is what is scary. As for that incident in Boston... People are just getting way too freaked out about terrorism. And that was supposed to be an advertisement, so you think the authorities would have known about it beforehand.

That's AMAZING!!! I want a Deathnote so I can start doing what Light was doing, so when the police come to my house and see that, and none of them are dead, in all techniquality, I can't get in trouble. ^-^

I think the poloce overracted just a bit. They should have just asked the kids what it was all about... But it makes me glad that nobody has found my Death Note in its over 160 name entirety ._.

My ex-best friend had written classmates' names in her Death Note (which she bought at an anime convention). She was suspended for a few days, but nothing else.

I want a death note for sure, but it would be idiodic for anyone to actually write down names of people you know... people would get suspicious. Plus it wouldn't end well if they actually died.

These kids were stupid enough to get caught but the Police need to get a grip.

I went to the death note movie cosplayed as Misa, and half an hour before I left, me and My friend made one by Spraypainting a cold composition notebook black and then putting the logo on the front with White-out. We spent the whole trip (we had to go pretty far!) writing random peoples/celebrities/anime characters/cartoon characters etc. names in it.
Geez, that makes me want to scan it.

There was a kid expelled from a high school in my home town because he drew a picture of a gun in his notebook. A picture.
Then at my high school a kid got expelled fro writing the names of people who bullied him in a list. Not a hit list, just a list, on a normal sheet of paper.
And I actually own a replica death note, but haven't written names, because like Patriot Act, and the fact the vice president might have a heart attack anyway, so that would be a an unfortunate coincidence and I'd feel bad.
