Blathanna Name: Persephone Short History: Persephone is the bringer of Spring. She was well suited for this job as she has always hated the cold and snow and would hide away until it was spring again. She was always with flowers and in a happy mood during the spring. Personality: Persephone loves green things and flowers. She can be seen lying amongst flowers of any kind but her favorite being daffodils, which happen to open as she walks by. She can be seen talking to the flowers, encouraging then to open and grow. When the fall begins she hides away like the flowers until spring comes once again. Persephone is sweet, gentle and kind. She loves to be around others who enjoy the flora and spring as much as she does. She is at her happiest in the spring playing within the flowers. When you meat the spirit of spring what happens!?
Persephone approaches me as I sit under a budding tree. I smile as the daffodils open around her and lean down to take a sniff. This makes her come closer. "You like the spring?" She asks with a small melodious voice.
"Yes, I love the spring. With everything turning green, like the world is being reborn." I reply. The blath elder nods at this answer and comes to sit next to me.
"This is my time of the year. The time I come out of hiding." She touches the daffodil in front of her and it opens as if she asked it too. "It's such a beautiful thing to see flowers after a cold winter."
"Yes." I agreed and sat back with a smile. The spring was a relaxing time. I heard Persephone sigh as well and I smiled even wider.

Blathanna Name: Renpet
Short History: Renpet was the Egyptian god of Youth, who was considered to be the bringer of spring. She was most often depicted as a young girl crowned with a circlet of palm leaves, and is considered an aspect of Isis.
Personality: A small child's personality is attributed to Renpet, as she was the goddess of youth as well as of spring, and was often depicted as joyful and happy under many conditions. She was also an aspect of Isis, however, and was therefore very wise when the situation required it.
When you meat the spirit of spring what happens!?:
Komi knelt in the damp loam of fallen, rotting leaves and forest mulch, muttering to himself about the poor lighting under the trees as he stared through the finder of his SLR, trying to frame the opening bud of the crocus just right. He sighed and mumbled under his breath, getting up and walking around the small flower to try a different angle, reaching into the camera bag at his waist for his polarizing filter. He flopped to the ground on his stomach, ignoring the debris on his hiking clothing and tried again to frame the little orange blossom to his satisfaction. A slight motion in the side of his finder caused him to freeze in place, then slowly move to center the object up. A quick twist of the focusing ring brought the object into razor-sharp view, and he almost said something aloud in his surprise. Of all things he had not expected to see, it was a wild Blathana, certainly not one this beautiful. He carefully settled the finder around the Blath, making sure his metering was right and taking his time, he probably only had one shot at this. His finger touched on the shutter button, and the lights in the finder flashed, indicating a perfect focus. A little more pressure, and the camera made its characteristic click-whir.
At the sound, the wild Blath's head came around to face Komi, and he instinctively hit the button for a second shot as it started walking towards him. "Well hello there," he called to in the gentle, soft tone of voice he used when talking to small children or dogs, one attempting to convey friendliness and non-hostility.
"Hello," she responded, in a gentle, musical voice. "I am Renpet, who might you be?"
"I am Komitadjie, although all my friends call me Komi," he replied, smiling. "It's a really lovely day out, is it not? Just wish there was a tad more light. Trees are lovely backgrounds, but make poor windows." He smiled and gestured to his camera. "I'm a photographer by hobby, as you can see."
"That I can," she chuckled, "I heard you muttering about lighting and F-stops from a couple hundred yards away."
"Yeah," he said ruefully, "I was trying to get a good photo of this crocus here," he gestured "but it was no co-operating too well. Just not enough light for a good exposure."
She sat down and eyed the crocus in question. "That is certainly a nice little one, it did well this year!" She smiled maternally and brushed the leaves around it with her paw. "I'll have to remember this one next spring as well." She chuckled and stood up, snaking the small bits of leaves from her fur. "I must be on my way, so many things to do! I'll see you again, Komi!"
With a blur of speed, she was off into the woods again, leaving Komi behind, puzzling over exactly what she had meant. As he stood to leave, he noticed that the crocus he had been focusing on was now centered in a beam of sunlight, shining down through a small hole in the treetops. He could not help but laugh as he raised his camera again, wondering if he really ever would meet that friendly, enigmatic Blathana again.

Blathanna Name: Maia Short History: In Roman mythology, Maia was identified with Maia Maiestas, a goddess who may be equivalent to an old Italic goddess of spring. The month of May was named for her; the first and fifteenth of May were sacred to her. The goddess was accessible only to women; men were excluded from her precincts. Personality: Gentle and kind, Maia loves all creatures and plants. She likes to play tricks though, and can often be very cunning and mischievous. She's a playful spirit and loves to show others the brighter side of things. During the winter months, her fur fades to white, but at spring, the white disappears, much as the snow does, until she's brilliant green, much like the grass each year.
When you meat the spirit of spring what happens!? "Ugh. I hate spring." Kaitaia scowled as she made her way through the forest, looking for her lost kitten. Katida had gotten out, and being the curious sort, had fled into the forest at the edge of Kait's property. There was no way Kait was letting her get lost in the forest, who know what sort of creatures were in there? So here she was, making her way through the dark forest undergrowth, her sneakers getting soaked from the melting snow.
"Well, that's not very nice."
At the sound of someone else's voice, Kait whirled around and was quite surprised to see a Blathanna sitting not five feet away. And not just any Blathanna, the most graceful and beautiful Blathanna she had ever seen.
"What–Where did you come from?!" she asked startled.
The Blathanna laughed, a pleasant sound, much like chimes in the wind. Getting to her feet, she crossed the small distance between herself and the human. She was larger than a normal Blathanna, coming easily to Kait's waist, and a simply beautiful shade of green, with delicate swirls of white. Her wings, also much larger than that of a regular Blathanna, were also green–except for her coverts, which were white, but that seemed to be fading, much like the melting snow. She turned her blue eyes to Kait, circling around her and studying her with much interest. "Why do you not like spring?" she asked, apparently not going to answer the question the human had asked.
"Uh.." Kait blinked. "It’s icky. There’s gross dirty snow melting everywhere and making everything muddy and it's too warm to wear your winter coat, but too cold for just a sweater. And without the snow covering the ground, everything just looks...well, dead."
The Blathanna nodded, coming to a stop in front of the human and sat down, peering up at her. Her blue gaze reminded Kait of a clear blue sky, pure. "Only at first. Then the grass turns brilliant green and the flowers bloom, and the air smells wonderful." She smiled wide, nodding.
"Well.. I suppose." Kait frowned. The Blathanna nodded again, a knowing smile on her face. With a tail swish, she turned to look at a tulip that seemingly had come from no where. Kait’s eyes widened, and the Blathanna laughed again.
"See? Spring is beautiful." She gave Kait a wide smile. "You’ll come to like it. I just know you will." She got to her feet once more, spreading her wings. "Your kitten is nearby. She has such curiosity! She’s tired now though, and looking for you." With that, she leapt into the sky, wings flapping to thrust her in the air. "We'll meet again, Miss Kait, I'm sure of it." And with that she was gone.
Kait looked around bewilderedly. That Blathanna, Maia, Kait wasn’t sure how she knew her name, but she did, had been rather unusual. Shaking her head, she started to head out to look for the kitten, but she hadn’t moved two steps when a calico ball of fur bounded towards her, mewing. Kait scooped the kitten up and held her to her chest, eyes wide. This had certainly been an exciting start to spring.
(( =D; Wow. I didn't realize it was that long. ))
