I'm curious as to how many people actually do ballet....
I've been doing ballet for about a year, and I simply love it. It's a pity I didn't find my passion for dance sooner (I'm 20 now), but ballet gives me such pleasure and a life I haven't felt in a while. I take two classes a week at my community college.
What about other members?

I don't take it, but my mom did. When I get the [Princess Tutu] box set in a few weeks, I'm planning on asking her if the ballet is portrayed accurately.

When I was little I loved ballet with a passion, so I borrowed books from the library & taught myself the basics. My mother would always criticize how unnatural their feet looked, and how the dancers "always" damage their toes. Now that I'm old enough, I've continued to teach myself despite this, and am gently persuading her assumptions otherwise with the help of Princess Tutu as my inspiration. whee

I am currently stumped as to wether or not I'm ready for pointe shoes. I think I'm physically ready, but I don't want to rush into it. I can't remember all the ballet terms for the life of me either. Any suggestions?

I take ballet. I kind of wish I was on pointe but ballet is more of a supplemental class for me: I took a five-year hiatus so it isn't my strong point anymore.
MolitaPriestessKikyo~ Talk with the person who would be your pointe teacher to make sure your feet are in good condition for pointe. As for not remembering the terms, you could take a regular ballet class along with your pointe class to refresh your memory. I think by the time you're on pointe they assume you have some knowledge of the terms, but if you speak with your teacher it will probably be fine. (But despite all my talking, I'm not on pointe either xD)
Good luck!

I remember when I used to be in a ballet class. It was my dream to be a ballerina. Then they kicked me out because I can't stand on my toes. Now art is my passion. People can be cruel now-a-days. I need a hug... sweatdrop
