Hi hi ya'll! Lavian here with a little status report AND warning.
If anyone's been wondering where I've vanished to this time...heres the answer.
I recently went to apply for a job here at the local labor board. When I put my social in, the computer there kept saying I was someone else.
I triple checked the number I was putting in, and even typed it off my actual card...and it still came up with the same guys name.
Turns out, some guy has been using my social. For everything. The dude even bought a house using my social.
And here's the kicker: He's been using it since 1997, and I didn't even know it.
For those of ya'll who don't know...I'm only 21...so in 97, I was just a little kid who's biggest problem was being picked on in school.
Checking my credit report wasn't exactly on the top of my to do things ya know? X3
With my dads help, we have informed the police of this in both locations (the guy who is using my number is in a town I've never heard of) and they are working to catch the guy so we can straighten this out.
So let me get to my warning.
Peeps, get your credit report checked as often as you can. I suggest at least once a year if not two or three times.
Even get your kids report checked. Cause as I've learned the hard way, the people who will take your social don't care how old their victim is.
And don't just think that because you've never received anything funky in the mail (credit card bills you didn't apply for etc) doesn't mean you shouldn't check it.

Wow hope it all works out for you, unsure what will happene to the house thou
I had a scare like this too till I went to free annual credit report.com and no of what the place that was calling me about was on my report

Oh my God! I cant believe something like that could happen in this day and age. I mean you are a female and he is a male. Doesnt that come up somewhere along the line? LOL MY credit is so bad right now no one would want to use it anyways.
Wow I hope that things can be straightened out for you with no problems. What a shock that must have been for you. So much for SS numbers huh?

Yeah I would have thought the gender thing (let alone a 10 year age diff.) would have put a red flag at the department of labor...but apparently not.
I tried going to one of those credit report sites, but to even get an account you have to know about some of the stuff on your profile.
I can't answer questions about my a bank loan that I never made, so they wouldn't even let me get an account.

Ah! Oh my god! That is so terrible! I hope everything works out for you and your credit gets cleared of all that you didn't even do. That is really not cool.
And also, thank you for the warning. That's definitely a lesson we all should learn from.

Lavi! Missed you! *hugs* I am so sorry to hear that happened...that is just so creepy! (and the dude that did it's a creep!) mad
Who would ever think to do that, (check credit report), especially at your age? Sheesh....
But, I'm kinda like Mizzie--if anyone wants to rip off my numbers and credit card info., more power to 'em--they'd be sorry, cuz I don't have anything worth ripping off, lol! rofl
