Mirorim had been behaving quite well in the months since Leonard had reluctantly adopted him. As a matter of fact, if one had asked the musician about the whole deal he might have ended up admitting that he didn't regret picking up the strawberry-eyed child he had found just meandering about on the sidewalk that day. He was a well-behaved boy after all, once you got past his blatantly ignoring the laws of physics and occasionally borrowing people's voices at parties, though that ended up making him surprisingly liked in the aristocratic community he'd been submerged in.
It was enough that the two had ended up agreeing that the boy perhaps didn't need a babysitter so often anymore and he could go outside on his own once in a while so long as he remained careful.
With the weather never really bothering him as much as it should, he now took a great deal of time meandering about the city sidewalks when he wasn't watching his father compose music or practice one of many instruments. Today it was drizzling slightly, delightful little pinpricks of noise bouncing off of the bowler hat that rarely left the boy's head, the spool's worth of magenta string draped around his body clinging to his clothes and to itself. It was a nice day.
Meow...
Miro paused, head tilted curiously in one direction. There had just been another noise besides the rain, he was sure of it! Almost like an out-of-tune violin...
"Oh. Hello, kitty!" The masked boy knelt down in front of a soggy little box by the doorstep of one building to peer at the shivering creature inside. "If you're looking for a house, the one I live in is big enough for you to stay in..."

As Mirorim knelt down, what looked like his shadow remained standing in his place. It watched, carefully, silently, as the boy spoke with the meowing feline. No movement needed, just watching. It looked left, then right. No one around. No one but himself and his other. For now. He made no attempt to hide, he simply stood there and watched, and listened. The being behind Mirorim was as much of a sponge as he was; and Mirorim was the only thing it wanted to soak in. "If you're looking for a house, the one I live in is big enough for you to stay in..."The being smiled a secret smile at Mirorim's words. Though the words were intended for the kitten, he took them for himself. He was sure the house would be more than big enough for him to live in, once Mirorim was gone. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The paradox boy remained, for several moments, oblivious to the lookalike that stood coldly behind him, his attention fixated on the soaked little calico feline shivering in the box. All of those patches of fur looked so interesting. If his dad could let him keep it, he would have to insist on naming it Patches and letting it sleep on this old hand-me-down quilt he had pulled out of the closet a few months ago. It now spent most of its time folded at the foot of his bed. The quilt hadn't seen much use since he had found it since the weather had started warming up, so he could sleep comfortably without needing many extra blankets. Of course, he didn't need to sleep very much in the first place for some reason in the same way he never really needed much to eat, though he had eaten quite a bit at the Italian place they had gone to last week because the food there was really quite tasty--
--oh. Right, the cat. Crawling closer to the box, Miro tentatively reached his hand forward into it. It was to the boy's pleasant surprised that the cat immediately smashed its head against his palm, purring loudly in relief of finding a compassionate individual on this increasingly rainy day and demanding the pettings and attention it so craved. It even allowed its new friend to pick it up. The two looked quite the fitting pair, with the cat nestling comfortably in the supposed human's arms. All of the string and little glass beads provided ample supply of playthings - it was no wonder that Miro was liked so instantly.
Finally, the boy turned around.
"...You look just like me," he observed, voice steeped in curiosity.

The other Mirorim looked eye to eye and cocked his head curiously. It was no surprise that his first words would be a mimicry, but they held their own meaning.
"You look just like me." He repeated, and stuck his tongue out.
A tiny mew caught his attention, and his eyes turned down to the kitten in Mirorim's hands. They flashed in a mixture of delight, and jealousy.
"Is that yours?" He asked himself.

Mirorim couldn't help but be taken aback at hearing himself use his voice to repeat his own observation. It managed to surpise the boy so much that he didn't think to say 'You sound just like me, too!' They stared at each other for a moment or two in silence, one confused, the other bemused.
The only visible difference between the two was...
"No, it's not mine yet," the boy responded. "I'll have to ask my dad first."

"Your dad." The other murmured, letting that phrase jumble around in his mind, as if he was tasting it to see if he liked it. "Dad." Yes, that sounded rather enjoyable, he was sure he would like having a dad once this one was gone.
"Let's go ask him." His eyes focused sharply back on Mirorim as he spoke this. After all, he needed to know where he was going.
He reached out to pet the kitten on the head before turning around. He could see the raindrop-sheen outline of a low bridge through the soft sheet of rain. He lifted his arm up slowly and pointed at the bridge.
"Is it that way?"
