I didn't see a Munny topic here on the front page, so I'd like to make one to show off the Munny stuff I've done. I've got 2 completed, plus some accessories I made to look like characters, and I also have 1 mini Munny under construction, and another one I haven't started yet. This is Kubo! He's my very first Munny, a glow-in-the-dark variety. My theme for him was "anime" so I used elements from Bleach and CLAMP when designing him. The eye style and symbol on his chest are from Bleach, and he's also named after Bleach's creator. The gem on his forehead is a reference to Mokona, who is the mascot of CLAMP, which publishes various series of manga that I love. I used acrylic paint, which seemed to work pretty well. I sketched everything on him with pencil first, and then painted. I was really happy with the way he turned out, and this being my first Munny, I decided to go with most of the accessories: The cape, the goggles, and the sword. If you've got your own Munny, or Kidrobot stuff, post some pics! blaugh

This is Nova, my second Munny. I did this guy with Sharpie markers. My theme for Nova was "Robot". I did a Google search and found loads of robot pictures for inspiration. I wanted something with a sleek and cute design. I decided not to use any of the accessories on him....although I did end up using them...and here they are! Steve the Perpetually Terrified! Prof. Spraycan! Baldowich, the Destroyer of Worlds! They're my team of Super Villan Accessories, and enemies of Kubo and Nova. xp Yeah ok, so I got bored and I had perfectly good Munny accessories lying around

Munny is a blank vinyl toy that you decorate and design yourself. There's the normal size Munny, mini Munny, glow in the dark, and there's even a giant Munny for the really serious artist.
For the first one, I purposely left a lot of the face un-painted because I wanted his face to glow in the dark.
For the second Munny, I wanted to use the white space and just turn it into detail. I like leaving at least part of the Munny blank, though I have one mini Munny I haven't started yet, and that one might get completly covered.

I really liked the anime look of the first one, what do you use to paint munnys? And the super villan guys are great. The sword is the best one there. Very awesome all around, Cant wait to see the future ones!!

For the painted one I just used acrylic paint. It seemed to work ok. The Munny I've currently got in the works, I'm having a bit of an issue with. The silver marker dried tacky, so it's slightly sticky to the touch. I'm trying to find something I could put over the silver parts to make it smooth. sweatdrop

You can buy them from kidrobot.com, or lots of comic stores sell them. Urban Outfitters and sometimes Newbury Comics ((Both are MA area stores)) sell them, so your nearest comic/music type store would probably have them.

For the problem with the marker drying sticky, you could try a clear paint topcoat? or if you want something a little more "low-rent", clear nailpolish.

I've got one more Munny finished. I should post pictures. I'm actually pretty proud of the latest one.
