Has anybody read this? It's a graphic novel, not a manga, but it's really good. It's the memoir of a woman who grew up in Iran in the 1970s and 80s. We had to read it for school, but it's really good. Apparently, a movie was just made of it too...

The artwork's not great, I agree. But I don't think it's supposed to be amazing. And it's interesting... It was only 150 pages. mrgreen

I saw the movie somewhat recently, and then my dad decided to buy the book. I think it's really interesting. I would have to agree that the artwork isn't fabulous, although I find myself liking the simple style of it sometimes.
It's a really great book though, because it makes you think about things you probably wouldn't think about normally.
Also, and this is probably because it's a graphic novel, it changed mediums very well when it was made into a movie. The movie more effectively captures the sadness, the funny parts, etc., than even the book did.

I hear that it just got animated too. It was in my latest Borders update. It sounds interesting, but I don't know if I'd like to spend money on it. I'm more of a library person.

So the movie was edited down more... But I loved that it was in French! I got some practice in, trying to understand without subtitles. It didn't work... lol
