ENTRY #1 The past few days have been interesting. I have met many fellow kitties, most of them in the park. Most of them seem nice. Hopefully I can find a lasting friend. My training is going slow, but I must be patient. My goal may be in the distance, but it is not too far away! The weather has been very nice. I had a picnic the other day. It was wonderful. Nature has been inspiring my poetry of late. That's all for now. I am sure that there will be more to come.

ENTRY #2 My geisha training is off to a good start! I am very happy. So far, I am memorizing poems and writing them down. It looks like I have a lot to learn. I hope I can do it.

ENTRY #3 It is winter now, and quite cold. I spend my days inside, continuing my studies. I long to see the cherry blossoms again, and spend my time walking in the gardens. I have had the fortune to become acquainted with a young man, and I believe that I am beginning to feel affection for him.

ENTRY #4: Soon, after many months of training, I believe that I will be promoted. I am so excited! My friend Renko is not as far as me yet, but she came into the geisha school later than I did. She is very patient, and I admire that quality. My friend Shuukichi is studying Kabuki. One day, I hope to see him perform in the theater. I hope he is able to get a part soon. He's a very good student. I believe he will go places with his talent. Recently, I visited my friend Hikari, who is a miko. She is a very kind kitty, and she wished me good fortune, health, and happiness. She believes that the kitty gods will bless me. Oh, I do hope so! There is a waitress named Azami who does not seem to like me. She thinks she is better than all the others in the geisha school, and will be the only one to become a star, or just the best geisha out of all of us. But she is only a waitress, so I do not think that she has the right to talk so big.

ENTRY #1: Recently, I have become acquainted with a lady named Mibara Nariko, who is studying to be a geisha. Her poetry is very beautiful. We have been sending poetry back and forth. I wonder if perhaps something will come of this. A romance, perhaps? I do not know if we would be allowed to marry, but our status seems about equal, and I believe we are a good match in terms of personality and family background. I have been studying hard to become a kabuki actor. My teacher says that I am a fast learner. This is good to hear. One day, I hope my skills will bring the attention of the court. It would be wonderful to live in luxury. This is Nariko-san's dream, too. Such high ambitions! Will we ever achieve them? Right now, it seems impossible, but with hard work, our dreams may come true. We must at least try. My mother says that I am quite intelligent, and that I would be a good adviser, and even a wise ruler. Nariko-san says so as well. Perhaps this would be a good position for me in the future. I like giving wise advice.

ENTRY #6: I am currently seeking employment. It looks like a local cafe is hiring entertainment. This could be my chance! Renko-chan, who is looking to be hired as a waitress, told me about it. The owner seems quite friendly. I am going to the temple to ask for good fortune regarding success. Perhaps I will see my friend Hikari-chan there. Often, my mind drifts to thoughts of Shuukichi-san. How is he doing in the Kabuki school, I wonder? Has he become a star? I must ask him the next time I see him. We have both been very busy, so we have just been sending letters to each other. My family has been talking of finding a husband for me. I do hope that they will consider him to be a potential match. I am quite fond of him, and each day my affection for him grows. Ano hito to Omottara, ii Ai wa ten (It is good Thinking of that person, Love is heaven.) ((Note--te+n=ten. In Japanese, "n" is a syllable by itself.))

ENTRY #1 Hooray! I have been hired at the Cuddly Cafe, run by a kitty named Seri. She is very nice, and I think I will like working there. Hopefully I can move up and become a Maiko soon!

ENTRY#2: Today I went to the Cuddly Cafe to eat, and I saw the lovely Nariko there! She has become a full geisha, and her performance was wonderful! I will have to go back there again. The food was delicious, and the service was great. Plus, it gives me an opportunity to see Nariko. What a great day! I heard my parents talking. Apparently, if I marry Nariko, I too will move up in rank. An opportunity to move up? This will be a good match for me, indeed. I hope her parents would not object to it.

ENTRY #1 I was looking for a place to eat today, and came upon the Cuddly Cafe. Both of my friends Nariko and Renko work there! Renko does a good job as a waitress, and I am sure that she will become a maiko soon if she keeps it up, which I know she will. Renko has always been a patient, hard worker. As for Nariko, she really has learned the geisha arts well. Her performance was splendid. The food at the cafe was so good that I will eat there often. It is good that they have vegetarian dishes. As a priestess, I cannot eat meat. However, I am told that I am allowed a small amount of fish. I am a kitty, after all! I do not intend to move up anytime soon. I am happy being a miko. However, if I am promoted, I will not complain!

ENTRY #1 Today I found out where my rivals work at. I must admit that the food is just as good as the restaurant at which I am employed. I hope that this cafe does not steal away customers. Then I would make less money. I am still working at becoming a maiko. I should have been promoted by now! But Renko has not been promoted either, so I suppose I can take some satisfaction in that. Nariko is already a real geisha! Oh, how I envy her! How did she move up so fast? And it looks like she has her eye on that Shuukichi. I wonder if I will be invited to the wedding--if there is a wedding. I wish I could meet a good future husband. There are rumors that Renko may have found someone, too. Hikari is a miko, so I don't know if she is allowed to marry. Probably not. Well, back to my studies. I will keep at it until I am a geisha! Ugh. Work is so tedious. I wish I lived in the royal court and able to lie in the lap of luxury, not having to work or worry about anything.

ENTRY#2 Azami came into the cafe as a customer. Thankfully, she was not rude to me, but I noticed that she was looking at Nariko with envy. I hope that she would not do anything to sabotage Nariko's career or marriage plans. Nariko says that she will invite me to the wedding if she has one. How nice! I like my new job at the cafe. The food is good, the pay is good, and the owner is nice. The customers gave me great tips, too, even though the service charge is included in the bill and they do not have to tip me. In addition to my new job, I am also keeping up my studies at the geisha school. I am determined to become a Maiko soon, perhaps in a few months or so. Maybe Nariko will become my onee-san and take me under her wing. All maiko are apprenticed to a geisha that acts like a big sister and shows them the ropes. However, I am worried that competition may ruin our friendship. That would be terrible. What if we became rivals? No, I must not think that! We would never let this happen. Besides, I have heard talk that she may be accepted into the Royal Court. What an honor! I wonder if I will ever get that far. If I don't, that is all right. For now, I will be happy just completing my geisha training.

ENTRY #7: I was hired at the cafe, along with my friend Renko! The owner, Seri-san, is upbeat and friendly, and she makes such good food! I can see why the customers say they will return. I got to eat some of her cooking on my break, and it was delicious! She arranges it artfully, too. Shuukichi saw me perform! I am sure that he enjoyed the show, because he had a genuine smile on his face as he watched. I could tell. Oh, it made me so happy! I am sure that I must have been blushing when I came over to refill his tea. My friend Hikari came in to eat at the cafe as well. It was nice to see her again. It seems that she is doing well. Renko is a great waitress, and I am sure that she will be promoted to Maiko status soon. I wonder who her onee-san will be. I hope that we do not become rivals. That would be a sad day. We are such good friends. If I move into the Royal Court, we won't be, that is for certain. However, we might not see each other as often, and I would not be there to encourage her at work. I hope that another one of our friends will come to work at the cafe. That way, when I leave, it will not be so hard on Renko. I will still come in as a customer though, that is for sure! I also saw Azami at the cafe. She seems jealous of me. I can understand why, but she will be promoted eventually, and then her dream will come true, too. I wish I could see some of my old friends. Princess Yumi, Cloud, Zora, Sakura, Nightwind...I enjoyed talking to them all in the park. It makes me sad that I have not seen them in so long.

ENTRY #8: I am so happy! First of all, there is wonderful news. Shuukichi-san and I are engaged to be married! We hope to have a wedding soon. Oh, I am so excited! Soon I may be a bride. And soon, perhaps, I may enter the Royal Court and become an attendant. I am so eager to make a difference in the lives of the kitties of this country. If I enter the Royal Court, I will have the opportunity to do so, and that makes my heart soar. I pray to the kitty gods that it will happen, and thank them for my engagement to Shuukichi every day. The second piece of good news is that my friends have returned! Today at the park I saw Empress Flower-sama, Cloud-sama, and Zora-san. We had a nice conversation. The Empress is such a nice cat. I am glad that we have such a good cat for a ruler. I really look up to her. I want to become a fine, elegant, and graceful lady like her. That is why I became a geisha. I hope that the Empress has a long, prosperous, reign.
