I was just wondering why everyone here believes in God. Like for an example were your raised to believe in God, like does your family go to church or was seeking religion and God something you decided to do yourself. Also if you don't believe in God why you don't believe in God.
Personally I was not raised in a religious although my Mom was raised catholic and my Dad was raised protestant. They both are the type of people that "mourn their religion" like they say in the movie Dogma, also they both really doubt God they also wonder if there is a God why does he let us suffer sort of thing, but despite my parents opinions I have always believed in God. I have never doubted he was there. I'm not for sure if I can pin it down to an exact event but one event that always sticks in my mind is one night there was a storm and our lights went out so we had to use candles and flashlights, well to keep all the kids entertained (I am one of five) my Dad decided to read which isn't unheard of at my house my parents would read to use every night so we had TONS of books but for whatever reason my Dad decided to read the Bible to us despite the fact we as a family have never really been religious.

Well, I believe in God. Both of my parents are Catholic, and so are all my friends. But I just think it's so unbelieveable that God loves us more then we would love our own children. It's just nice to know that there's always someone up there you can run to when you need help or healing. 3nodding

I didn't grow up in a religious family... sad to say. I started believing around this time last year. I was going down the wrong path and so my parents actually forced going to church into my life along with the rest of my sisters and brothers. I was saved back in my home town at this place called 'lazer x'. (lazer tag) I didn't really understand anything of the Bible until I started to go to church more. I found myself loving what I was hearing and I became more active with not only church but with my new relationship with Christ. I basically living at chruch. I actaully lived with my youth pastor and his wife for 2 months. I was baptized like 3 months later and I'm still living my life with Christ. I didn't really 'feel' or 'experiance' the holy spirit or Jesus Christ until last Sunday night at this new church that I started going to by myself...
There was a guest speaker that came in who was totally awesome. He had everybody crying tears that wern't just from guilt or shame, but from happyness and love. Christ was working so greatly in church last Sunday that some of what happen I can't hardly explain. I remember seeing the guest speaking putting his hands on a man and was telling him to repent from his sins because he hit his wife twice the night before. The man didn't tell anybody about what he did to his wife. He looked straight in the speaker's eyes and said 'Yes... Yes I did.' This same night when I was walking home I was praying to God still in tears. I actually fell in my driveway and at that moment I experianced speaking in toung for the first time. This might sound crazy or weird to whomever... but IT REALLY happen.
So... you can say that I believe.

i dont really know why i believe..and i have to admit, there are still times i doubt God redface but i always end up being convinced He is real! My mam's really agains all this Christianity going to church and things, so it's really hard for me, but i know i can talk and pray to God and that helps me. I htink what's helped me through the tough times, is the fact that i believe. if i didnt believe in God...i really cant imagine where id be! id feel so alone!I have friends at my church that are so full of the love of God and things...and i've been prayed for and have actually felt myself being lifted(as in feeling happier and loved) which i think is the main reason i know He's real! i said i sometimes doubt him, but i know im not the only one, and sometimes doubting God makes my relationship wit hiom stronger, because he proves himself to be real in the end 3nodding

I believe because nothing else makes sense. *Dodges the attacks of random Scientists* Lemme explain. The fact that the universe works does not make sense when you really think about it when God's not in the picture. I mean, seriously, a dot of matter, with no explanation for being there, suddenly explodes into a universe with set laws on motion, gravity, time, entropy, etc. Really, how the heck does that make any sort of logical sense? Why didn't everything just bounce around or whatever, instead of turning into a functioning universe?
When you put God into the picture though, it makes perfect sense. He wanted a universe based on rules. If it was random, it would be an imperfect creation from a perfect God. And that just wouldn't be right. As for why Protestant Christianity, it's because other religions are either a) stupid, b) make little sense, or c) make absolutely NO sense. Or d) they're weird.
Islam is called "the religion of Peace" by its followers, but every day I hear about followers of it blowing up their own people. @.@ I'm sorry, maybe this makes sense to them, but blowing up innocent people from your own religion while proclaiming it's making peace is an idea that is just beyond me.
Buddhism is going to a state where you feel nothing.
Mormonism... Well, lemme put it this way: Isolating yourself from the rest of the world and telling people that they'll be a god if they're Mormon, while at the same time excommunicating children for watching PG-13 movies and saying that Mormons are Christian and Christians aren't... Well, it's screwed up. Big time.
The cults are lame. o.O Ooh, let's have dark rituals. Big deal; I've got better things to do with my time.
Satanism=Stupid. Evil ALWAYS loses in the end. Take a look at History. Notice that the Nazi's lost World War 2? Notice that other horrible regimes have been taken down by force? That and I like angels WAY better then demons. Angels are much cooler/prettier (depending on gender, of course. Usually. gonk ) and seem more inclined to help people.
So... Yeah. o.O I can continue with a longer list if anybody wants to read it.

There are more reasons to believe in Him than not, and there's no proof or evidence that He doesn't exist, while there's quite a bit of evidence that He does.
There are more benefits to believing in Him than not, and even if He's not real, you still have nothing to lose by believing (and a lot if you don't.)
... and finally, there is the 'faith' factor that cannot be explained.

I believe because I was raised to believe. All of my friends believe in God, my family believes in God, basically I've lived in an environment where God is our Creator and Jesus is our Savior.

I believe in god because I know there is a god and heaven. I have felt the power of god moving in peoples lives and it is awesome the only problem is most people don't stop and listen to it. Thats what i believe

I've almost always had a belief in God, but I'm not sure why it started. I've had some ups and downs with believing in him, but in the end (Like Warrior Princess said), end up seeing he is real and good. ^_^

i onestly have no clue if there is a god. if youve read my post youd probly know why. im probly the doom sayer in this guild buta s ive said countlesws times befor. im looking for god or some hier being. its tuff being me. but when a guy andf a gaggel of girls just appear out of nower and start sayin things they raelly shouldent know and say god told them to come tome. mackes me wounder........
