I've been playing a lot of online. Mainly random matches on team battle. I used to be someone who switched between characters constantly, but I've developed a new favorite char. Wario. I've noticed a lot of people play as the same chars online. Ike, Link(s), Zelda, Lucas, Kirby, Meta Knight, Snake, Pikachu, Wolf. After fighting them so much, I basically know what to expect from them. Especially Ike. I end up bored if I play as the same char over and over.
When I first seen Wario, I was real disappointed in him. He was like, one of the worst chars in my opinion and he was one of the chars I was looking forward to most in brawl. I hadn't given him much of a try to here lately, where I think he's now one of the most powerful players and I wouldn't change his fighting style at all.
Wario is an extreme close up fighter. Meaning you have to be right on that person to fight. Most of his attacks have little or no range, but once you get used to his fighting style, he can be quite deadly. He also has great recovery. As long as he's coming back, he can always land on the stage. Not the ledge. Even still, there's been times I've end up under the stage and made it back to the edge. His bike is an extreme way to tick people off and deal good damage without getting hurt yourself. I've noticed his taunts really tick people off and frustrate them at the same time. Making them loose their cool and not play as well. His fart attack is so destructive. Don't use it at all for the first 1:30 in matches. Within the last the 30 secs for a rocket fart as I call it (last 10 for a nuke fart) have high chances of blowing people out of the stage if they're at 50 or more damage (Note, you have to be on them, to the side or under/above). In the air, he's quite confusing to people. He has free air movement. So his landing is quite unpredictable. If you don't know what I'm talking about, play as him and jump around with him to see. His smash attack is powerful. Not as deadly or as overpowered as sonics. Can be easily dodged or blocked, but if you're not careful can be ko'd at little or no damage. He can also ko himself if he gets on his bike. Because Wario is not used very often, or at least that I know of, people have a hard time predicting his attacks and fighting style. Not knowing what to expect also serves as a disadvantage. He does take a little bit to master, which goes for any character. I'll rely on skill. Not Ike's forward/up smash attack which some people I play against do.
Overall, he's now my fav. The only thing I dislike about him at this point is his up smash and the way he runs. So what I want to know is, we all have or favorite player(s). So what is it you like about the person you play as? Is there anything you dislike about that character or would change? Also, who do you dislike the most and why? For me, it would be Ike. Not because of any reason in particular, just because he's the most overused player in the game online. Just trying to make some discussion if you read this all.

Vylis Also, who do you dislike the most and why? For me, it would be Ike. Not because of any reason in particular, just because he's the most overused player in the game online. *Points to avatar and signature* I am a diehard Fire Emblem fan, and I'M starting to hate Ike. Probably because I've done about nine million clone fights with random wii people online. I mean, srsly, 90% of them don't even know how to USE the character. They just spam Aether and hope that it hits.
They make me want to consider a new main. -_-;
Weirdly, in my group of Brawl friends at school, Ike is one of the least used people. It's MARTH that's the whore in our little circle so I've really begun to hate Marth, too. And Game and Watch, weirdly enough.
Anyhow.
Kyoda's Ike Analysis:
Okay, so there were three things about Ike that I noticed right off the bat: One, he is SLOW. Two, he is STUPID-STRONG. and Three, he has pretty graphics. SSB as a series tends to balance its characters a few ways - either they're light and fast, e.g. Kirby, or they're heavy, strong, and slow, e.g. Ganondorf. Ike falls in the second category - I think, out of all the smashers, only Ganandorf surpasses him in slowness, heaviness, and possibly strength.
I actually really love that xD With a tiny bit of damage and a good, well-timed smash attack Ike sends anyone sans Ganandorf just ROCKETING off the screen. I've sent Links at 35% just FLYING from one end of the Bridge of Eldin to the other with a well-charged side-A. I've seen Bowsers at 50% absolutely SHOOT upward with a quick up-A. So we've established the stupid-strong part of that, right?
Also, another thing I love about Ike is his counter. A lot of people don't realize that Counter is Ike or Marth's best move. Not only does it negate all damage, it sends it BACK, plus with amazing knockback. Also, Counter doesn't just hit the person who initiated the attack, it smacks everyone in the vicinity.
As for his other B-moves, Quick Draw is VERY handy. It hits the hardest out of almost every other dash move I've seen, and if it's charge up well enough it can dash Ike from one end of the stage to the other in what COULD BE CONSIDERED a relatively quick pace.
One of the complaints I have about this character's moveset, though, is his crap-awful recovery. Aether may be a nice attack/meteor smash, and it's GREAT for blocking Marth's Critical Hit on account of Ike's super armour, but it is a CRAP AWFUL recovery. It goes directly up and then PLUNGES him right back downward. I don't know how many times I've Aethercided or seen other people Aethercide. There's only one good reason for using Aether off the edge, and that's to take down people with you in a rabid suicide attempt, and only if you're at dangerously high percentage already.
Great Aether is a great move with a very pretty animation, but it's range is disappointingly short. It does just about as much damage as Link's final smash but with a fourth of the range. Seriously, it's so easy to dodge it's just SAD.
Also, Ike cannot jump. End of story. His air sucks.
But disregarding these (critically important) things, I really do like the character. I've always been a fan of heavyweights (Pikachu being the only exception) and Ike was just... a very pretty heavyweight that came from a game I was obsessed with for a good while.
Now, the character's I hate... Sonic tops the list, followed shortly by Ike. Because I've played so many Sonictards and Iketards that any time I enter a battle with one of them I almost automatically just START, then R + L + A + START. I am SO tired of fighting people who don't know how to use Ike.
Also, your analysis of Wario's really interesting. I haven't really had an opinion about him either way, except for the fact that he's annoying in Classic Mode. I think I want to try out the character for a bit now - am going through a trial period of the different heavyweights because I'm getting disgusted by the Ike whoring. I'm getting so sick of people going, "Ike is for n00bs lol" because yeah, most Ike players on WiFi ARE noobs. But Jesus, that generalization. Makes me go "-_-; Just 'cause you haven't played any good Ikes yet doesn't mean you should generalize for us all. -_-;"
srsly.

Sorry Kyoda...I don't know what it is you hate about Sonic, but he's my main character. Unlike the Sonic whores you speak of, I actually know what I'm doing when I use him, for I don't use him for the sole fact that he's Sonic. I have always prefered speed and manueverability over all else, and Sonic just happens to fall in that category while at the same time looking awesome running. We also both happen to share the passion of just being able to move around freely and easily...and quickly. Even his Final Smash allows for free movement, unlike many of the others. It allows you to choose exactly who you want to take how much damage, rather than being constricted to either putting all the attack's power into one opponent or spreading it across all of them. This flexibility allows it to be effective for just about any situation. It's also fun to watch someone get KO'd from just the transformation. I would've prefered that Sonic had faster air speed though...
Now Ganondorf, he's a different story. I originally used him only because he's my favorite Nintendo character (or rather, character in general, with the exception of my own), until I discovered I could use him quite well.
I don't think there's anyone I hate, except Pit when he uses his Final Smash because I've seen it waaay too many times, as my friend's brother often uses him and whenever someone's about to break the Smash Ball, a blue streak would come out of nowhere, and the sky is suddenly filled with annoying...imp.....things. With wings. It's definitely my least favourite Final Smash. But yeah, I never hate something just because too many others like it. Someone could be revered as a god or cast aside like a plague, but it doesn't change who that person is.

okay...My favorites are Link, Toon Link, Fox, Wolf and Sonic and although I don't like using him I also am devistating with Pikachu O.o The many things I like about them.... Link's Clawshot Recovery, Toon Links down aerial meteor smash, Fox's Blaster and reflector, Wolf's side smash and meteor smashes (including the one at the end of his side special ;D) and sonics homing attack. Pikachu what I like is his side special. The only thing I dislike about my favorites are. Links final smash glitch (at certain angles it shows the triforce then cancels out) Toon Link's arrows, Fox's voice and taunts (liked melee's voice better) Wolf's aerial game, Sonic's hatred and sometimes speed (Why the hell does everybody dis Sonic?) Pikachu's down smash (only when fighting enemies who are using him)
Also the Ike thing....I will instantly quit a game if the person is almost half a stage away from a ledge and Aethersides....noone seems to realize that his side B is his best recovery -_-" but yeah....Ike is NOT a cheap character by ANY means....his moves are really predictable...yeah...I hate wario only cause he pisses me off...thats it.... I don't think any characters shoulda been taken out but I think that the sticker thing should have...

Well if you're good with the character, then all props to ya. I'm just tired of battles where I STAND on the ledge and just sit on my a**, watching as Sonic Noobs fly off the screen like, 3-5 times in a row. Sonic's actually a very well-balanced character, and if I could control him I might consider using him. Just. Augh. the WiFi N00bs. -_-; Again, kudos to you if you're actually good with him, though. But do remember that my attack is not really against the characters, but the people who OVERUSE the characters and have no idea what the hell they're doing.

WTF!? I have a game for my PSP which allows downloadable weapons and character parts from a memory stick and it doesn't have a harddrive....this is the only fault that SSBB (other than the stupid stickers D:<) has IMO

I don't play online yet, but I rarely see people use Peach in tourneys.
She's the only character that has a floating ability for a second jump, so it makes for a very crucial aspect in her recovery process back to a stage, and perfect for avoiding people who've picked up a pesky Hammer. Her parasol is also good, but I only use it when I KNOW I might not make it back. However, her dumbed down second jump (I say dumbed down because back in Melee, it was a second jump+float, but now she just spins and floats)=epic phail.
I also like using her because she's a lightweight, and her attacks suit my style. A good blocker, a good distance attack, and a superb projectile ability (which has the chance of pulling up a Beam Sword or a Bomb-omb, something great especially in those No Item battles). Plus, she has a nice aerial smash, the thing with her crown, along with a good upper throw.

srsly.Hm, Seems like you would like Dedede. I compare him a lot of times with Ike. Ike still being stronger/faster, but still close in the long run. He also has better return. Though, the speed reduction is a major drawback to him. I like dedede. So far my number 2 char. In sudden deaths the waddle de's own and can also be used as meat shields against opposing missile attacks. It's because Ike's smash(s) can ko at such a low damage. They think he's god or an only way to win. He attracts wifi noobs. I suggest to keep playing as him if he is your favorite. Not because he's overused in wifi. Show them how a true Ike player is. (though it is kind of annoying when you get in a game full of Ikes and you're the only different char.) I've noticed he can't jump much either. Kind of reminds me of Roy's jump. I'll see a lot of people always using aether to get that extra air he needs, but that comes with fall lag. Another thing, Ike's final smash isn't a guaranteed ko. If you hit someone with them at little damage, most likely they will survive on top of it having short range. (Still loves the way he screams and it's much prettier than links by far.) I do agree with you. Wario is annoying in classic mode and online as well. If you're on the opposite end. wink I honestly haven't seen too many people play as sonic at all. Maybe it's just me. I play a lot of team battle because I feel like it's more challenging than basic brawl. Not only that, but you'll get people who steal your kills all the time.

It becomes only natural after you play them so much. I very seldom see a skilled Ike player. Those are all good reasons why you dislike them. I almost agree with you there 100% on it. I also agree with you on the sticker thing. I don't use stickers at all. Kinda makes me feel like I'm playing one of those dbz fighting games with the capsules. I just collect what I get. What I don't get is why they replaced mewtwo with lucario. He wasn't a clone at all and they still aren't clones of each other. I've never really noticed hatred towards sonic. Honestly, I don't see him much online. .-. I never really figured he would be hated like he does. Maybe some of Snake just rubs off on people. ;] You know from that codec conversation.

But, every so often, I'll come across someone who just is killer with her. I've never really tried her as her fighting doesn't fit my style. (that and I suck as her xD) In team battle, she does make a good partner to be with as long as that player knows what they're doing. Still, one thing I dislike about her is her forward smash. It can be the tennis racket, golf club or the frying pan. They all have different effects I feel like, so if you're counting on one type of effect, you may or may not get it. D; Get online. It's very fun.

SO MUCH LOVE for that penguin. I'm a horrible n00b with him, though, and the way things go I'll probably end up maining as Pikachu. xD Which is fine with me because a well-played Pikachu absolutely MURDERS. For now, though, I think I'll stick with Ike. Just... he's so amazing when you actually know how to use him. T______T; And his final smash does (max) 63% with Up Knockback, so if you've got, like, above 20% on your character you're pretty much dead xDD. Not an instant KO like Light Arrow or Critical Hit, but still very amazing. ALSO. omg Wario. I need to learn how to play that b***h. For the first time in a long time, (if you'll excuse my arrogance...) I lost on WiFi to somebody that WASN'T Marth or Luigi. An AMAZING Wario who just... my god... the DAMAGE HE DOES. It just... omg... @_@ *FLAIL* Also, Peach scares me. She is a waste of a Smash Ball, but she can kick SO MUCH a**.

I guess my favortie character is Ness. He has a good balance of every stats, the way I use it. :3 Here's the categories about him that I like the most:
1: Decent Melee attacks 2: Good long range attacks 3: Defense against projectiles 4: Powerful throwing
Let's start with Melee attacks. His bat is the strongest, I guess, and if it's timed right, it can be the perfect finisher. Everything else doesn't really send the enemy flying, except for his Jump + Back and A. When used with accuracy, this attack can score high damage. And if the enemy's percent is over 70%, it can shoot them off the stage easily. If you have a bad timing, well, it's just a regular kick.
Now with his long range attacks. His PK Fire being the most useful, since it traps enemies inside the pillars of flame (But it's considered the most 'annoying' by my friends). His PK Thunder is okay. If you have good cotrol over it, it can be a good weapon. Also, it really helps with recovery, unless you miss. His PK Flash, too slow. I don't use it.
His defense? I guess the only thing he can use is the Down and B move. It heals. Enough said. (And it stops people from using projectiles too!) His Side Smash can deflect solid projectiles, if the timings right.
Finally, his lethal throwing. His up and down throws are for connecting combos, while his side throws are his finisher. Disregarding the up and down throws, his side throws are the most powerful, especially when you throw the enemy to the back. When they're percent is about 70%~90%, it's easy to shoot them out of the stage. And if you're lucky, they might not be able to recover.
There, that's why I like Ness, and probably half of the strategies I use.

I have the same problems whenever im using Ike in Basic Brawls. A few times whenever I come in 1st with Ike in basic brawls, at least 2 or more of the people will change to Ike, just because I won with him. Example: I played as Ike, won the match then the rest of them change to Ike when I used Peach. And yet, I still came in 1st :3.
Aether is a good Anti-edgeguard if you use it when Ike is close enough to the edge. And I figured out a little trick whith Ike where you can be running forward, do his Back midair and still go forward, I think it's called Moonwalking or something and then while I still have that second jump, I use Eruption and it's pretty handy >: D Of course I haven't mastered it though sweatdrop
Peach has reduced knockback but shes stil good. And Sonic whores... HATE.
