I'm on Microgynon 30, have been for about 18 months, but I'm probably going to change it because of one major major side effect: I hardly ever want sex. Does anyone have a recommendation for me?
(I think UK names might differ to US ones, but all the same, it's good to know.)

I'm on Yasmin at the moment and need to change asap becuause my sex drive is non-existent too! It's driving me crazy! ...not to mention my poor, understanding boyfriend.
I'm been on Mercilon and Femidet (sp?) and they both gave me severe depression and made my skin go crazy. I have Eczema and it just got a zillion times worse while I was on those two.
The lack of sex drive is the only side effect I've had on Yasmin so fingers crossed for the next try!

I was on one of the Ortho Tri-Cyclen variations for almost a year and a half. I had severe nausea for the first few days of the first few months, but other than that I had no problems. I just switched because I was starting to forget to take my pills.

I've used the Ortho Tri-Cyclen, Ortho Evra Patch, Seasonale, and the Nuva Ring all for my insane periods and endometriosis.
I didn't have any problems with any of them, though I really liked the Nuva Ring because I only had to change it once a month. I forgot it was there until my husband [boyfriend at the time] made it into a c**k-ring on accident. ><;; then I switched to the Patch because it is mainly for endometriosis. 3nodding
So, I'd recommend the Nuva ring if you want a bit more freedom. The Patch only if you don't mind the extra risks.

I'm not on the pill ATM because my gyn insisted that he wanted a pregnancy test first, no matter what I said xD I got my period today as I regular do (2~3 days after the # day it was last month), but I'm still getting the pregnancy test from the lab, so he can calm (he... lol).
The thing is I just came in to get info and options of pills/patches or any other method besides a condom to double up my protection, and I got out with an order of pregnancy test, a intro-vaginal study...(sort of the ones they do for pregnant ladies, but instead of the abdomen, its inside me. My mother had one and she told me it's very uncomfortable) AND he wants me to get one of those made in my boobs because he felt some weird lobes :/ Now I'm kinda worried about my boobs since there has been cancer history in my family and I have an grand-aunt who had cancer in both breasts.
[And I'm really, REALLY sorry if I cannot type/say the right names of the studies or things, my main language is not english and I don't think an internet translator would be of much help here xP]

I think you mean a cervical smear, it's to check for cervical cancer or other abnormalities. I've heard they're uncomfortable, my mum has now stopped having them because she got ill last time she had one.

i'm on aviane, which is a generic of alesse. i haven't noticed any side effects, but for the past 2 months i've been having really weird stomach problems like nausea, indigestion, and sometimes diarrhea. i've been on it for 8 months though so idk if it can give you side effects so long after taking it.

I'm on aviane. So far no side effects except my period getting lighter, which perversely bugs me a bit. I had rather regular, and fairly light periods to begin with, so with it lighter I'm paranoid that it will just continue lightening up each month and I won't have a period anymore... the whole reason why I refused seasonquie (or whatever it is called) is because I like having a period each month. xp
Still I'm just glad I'm not having weight gain, or massive hormonal side effects like I could with a hormonal form of birth control.

I was taking Desogen and had the same too...no sex drive! It gets annoying and I was always angry. So I switched to the Nuvaring...nuva was a little bit better but I was always getting infections. TMI...But it varies...

i was on Ortho Tri-Cyclen, but that pill didn't work for me. It made me really sick, i had no appetite, i lost a lot of weight, and i ended up pregnant a few times in a two year period (sadly i miscarried each time). My doctor kept me on the pill, but it was sadly one that really didn't work for me but it most likely will work well for a lot of other people
