I'm so behind every month on disability, a single Mom of two teen gals...the expenses are wracking up just everyday stuff...I don't have any credit cards or any big debts...it's just the mundane stuff I can't pull off...
Soooo... time for P/T work...and I'm not sure I will handle it well, I'm really nervous but have an application in at a second hand store I frequent and just put up a flyer in my building for baby-sitting. I'm really great with kids and they love me - plus I could work from home where I'm more comfortable and set my own hours.
Still it seems like this HUGE leap for me. I'm not even at the best dose of my new meds yet...but the stress of cash-flow shortages is driving me even more nuts...OMG...it's this vicious cycle.
I worked before, full-time even with no meds but I was a pot head then, I'm not now...I'm worried I'll be tempted back to it.
I've been a stay-at-home Mom for 17 years - venturing out to work again seems like I'm starting all over. Any advice?

Um...be careful? It seems like you're taking a lot on yourself at once.

I am, DarkLynx... more than I'd like to but I can't afford to live off disability alone...I feel I have no other choices at this time and it's very nerve-wracking! neutral

Well I'm into June now and still no work! I guess it just isn't meant to be right now....so I keep on struggling financially but I'm doing well for stress management right now.

Well, sometimes health is more important than the moneys. *rubs fingers together* lol I'm kidding it's always more important. But I still hope things look up for you.

I know what it is like to live off of disability alone. Last year I was really sick, in and out of the hospital every month, and when I was at home, I couldn't take care of anything (myself, 2 kids, bills, cleaning, etc.) My husband could not work because he had to be home with me and the kids, so all 4 of us were living off of my disability. My kids are 8 & 11, and they grew out of 3 clothes sizes during the school year, I know what you are going through and I just want you to know that it seems unsurmountable at times, but there is always light at the end of the tunnel. Have you tried any work from home jobs? I know that BestBuy and Google are looking for people to work from home right now. Maybe try that if you have a computer at home. I know of a couple of people in my town (population 8500) that work for Google from home, and they are on disability and can do the work fine. There is a lot less stress than having to work with other people, and if you are having a bad day or having a hard time, you don't have to explain it to anyone because you are at home.
I seem to be rambling a bit, sorry. I hope this is helpful!
Hang in there!
