Ok, maybe its just my imagination, but it really seems to me like Jacob DID imprint on Bella.
1.Things got really quiet and awkward when she asked
2. He loves her
BUT:
1. He was fighting for her, and using everything he had. He would have used that to.

Yeah, I was pretty sure he didn't just by the way he was staring at her in Eclipse that one time (which was exactly as I thought, he was either trying to see whether or not he had imprinted on Bella or forcing it), but when you gave me a few of the reasons for your theory, I doubted myself. I'm glad Stephanie Meyer cleared that up.
Another hint I got from Eclipse that he did not imprint on her is when Edward is actually talking to Jacob (I think it's in Fire and Ice) in the tent and he brings up the downside of imprinting if Bella were to end up choosing Jacob. Since Edward reads mind, I'm sure if Jacob knew that he imprinted on Bella, Edward would also know.

he didnt cos if he did, he would have given her EVERYTHING she wants. When she told him to stop or said no or protested, he would have stopped. And he wouldnt have fought like that if she WANTED Edward

in this case it's probably like what happened with Sam and Leah.
Sam loved Leah and promised to be with her forever... sorta like what Jacob tried telling Bella.
But look at what happened to him, Sam ended up actually finding his soulmate and imprinting on her cousin instead (who's name has escaped me right now) If he did imprint on Bella it would have been obvious, not to mention she wouldn't even bother being with Edward if that were the case.
I think too many team Jacob fans just wished this is what actually happened.
