Any fans of Anne McCaffery?
Personally, I really like the Pern series. Do you guys have any other favorites by her?

I read a bunch of her books back in middle school. I remember being especially fond of the small trio for the younger readers because I had a hard time getting through the longer ones. I really do love the dragons though and when I have some spare time (hah, that's funny) I'm planning on picking them up again.

I read that series too!
One of them was on the required reading lists so I read it and liked it. It made me read all of the books in the series.

Wow, I wish my school actually required interesting reading like that. We had to read Grapes of Wrath and Great Expectations which are "classics." I hate classics!

Do you know the order the books go in or do you have a suggestion for in what order I should read them? The task of finding the first one of all of those is a bit daunting.

Same for me! I loved Dragonsinger. Now I've read all of them (except that newest one) at least twice. What ones are your favorite? I personally like Moreta, Dragonsdawn, and Dragonsblood (Dragonflight and Dragonsinger were pretty good too). Who are your favorite characters? I think my favorite (not counting dragons) is Sallah Telgar. After her, I like Lessa, Menolly (sp?), Moreta, and Loraina (was that her name, the girl in Dragonsblood?). My favorite dragon's probably Arith (again, the dragon in Dragonsblood). What about you guys?

I'd maybe start with Dragonsong, Dragonsinger, and Dragondrums, but the other books are in a different order. Those start with Dragonflight. After that, I read them in the order the inside cover has (when they were published?) but there are other ways, especially as some of them are at different time periods. Dragonkin, Dragonfire, Dragonblood, and a new one are from the same time period, whereas Moreta, Dragonsdawn, and this other one (Dragonseye if I remember correctly?), are all at their own time periods. So you could start with one of those.

I've read the three little ones you were talking about (Dragonsong, Dragonsinger, and Dragondrums). I think I may have read Dragonflight (is that the one that starts out on a spaceship?)

Thanks for your help! I should be able to figure it out now that I've got a place to start. The inside cover... why didn't I think of that?

The spaceship is probably DragonsDawn. That one's hard to start, but I ended up liking it a lot. DragonFlight starts in a place called Ruatha, with Lessa the slave, if I remember correctly.

In that case... I read DragonsDawn. That title sounds more like what I remember. Wow, it's been a long time since I've picked one of those up.

I have Dragonflight but I haven't read it. Is it good? What's it about?

Dragonflight is good. It is about a girl who's basically a slave. She has the luck to be taken away by the dragonriders, who think she would make a good dragonrider. As the dragon chooses their rider, they have a group of girls including Lessa (the main character) nearby when the dragon hatches. So it's about Lessa's experience.

Okay, I guess I'll read it. Thanks!

We have to read that stuff too but we always get two "classics" and one choice.
I'm not exactly sure of the order but I know that the Dragonsinger series should be read after you've read the first one.
If you're lucky, you're library should have a 3-in-1 set with the first three books.

I've only read about 6 of them but I really do like Menolly.
I can't remember what the title was, but I liked the one with the white dragon. I think her name was Ruth?

I've just started reading the first three books of the Pern series, for me it's a little hard to get into, but hopefully I'll get into it more as the books go on.
