"Fun." Foxx said sarcastically as she looked at the island from her seat on the rail.

A wolf, strangely out of place on the weird island, pawed at the sands of the beach along the northern shore. The wolf's nose, quivering slightly, sniffed in and around the area before abruptly taking off into the out-of-place forest.
Loud, keening wails echoed from the empty and deviod trees, but the wolf paid no more mind than a flick of it's ear in the relative direction of the rather annoying sounds. The wolf continued on it's way, running for all its worth down a neglected path that wove through the dead forest like a sewing needle in the hands of an idiot.
Finally, the wolf stopped, rather abruptly for the neck-breaking pace it had set before. In the humongous tree before it, filled with long dead branches and unnameable animals, beady eyes glaring down. The wolf growled at them, hackles raising until they were standing stiff on end. However, its ears perked when it heard a rather muffled meow coming from the tree.
One of the glaring beings in the ancient tree screech painfully, and threw something into the air before cradling it's injured paw. The wolf hunched down for a split second, seeing the small ball of white sailing through the air, and then drove itself into the air with such force that the wolf shot past the bundle, catching the ball expertly in it's jaw before descending and sprinting away as soon as its paws touch the earth.
The angry screeches of the animals in the trees, stranges mixtures between monkeys and a giant breed of cat, followed them all the way, but the wolf saw none from the tree follow. Partially relieved, but keeping its guard up, the wolf sped up as much as physically possible before skidding to a stop at the beach the wolf as at not ten minutes earlier. Gently, it set the little white ball on the soft, golden sand before backing up a step and sniffing curiously at it.
The ball unwound itself from it's tight formation and meowed at the wolf, rubbing it's body against the wolfs in what was apparently gratitude. The wolf licked the kitten's cheek in affection, picked it up with it's jaws once again and set the kitten daintily on it's back. The kitten, as soon as it was set down, attacked the wolf's ear playfully before got to work cleaning it as thoroughly as possible.
The wolf simply set itself heavily on the sands of the rather warm beach and allowed the kitten on it's head its ear. The wolf certainly didn't mind.

The wolf looked up, ears perked, listening for something the kitten either couldn't hear or didn't care to know, as it continued it's self assigned job of licking the wolf's ear into oblivion. The wolf stood, shook itself gently as to not toss off the kitten, and began to trot along the beach.
After ten minutes had passed, the wolf sat down in the seemingly same spot on the beach, as it looked the same as where they were before. The wolf looked out at the ocean, keen eyes instantly finding what they were looking for.
A ship was coming to the island, and if the wolf heard correctly, it only had one occupant. How strange. The wolf physically shrugged off the abnomaly and laid back down on the sandy beach.
