For example, in order to live, adults had to pay 100 thousand berries and children 50 thousand each month. From there, Arlong and his crew built up their forces in order to take over all of East Blue, bribing corrupt Marine officials like Nezumi so that no attention was paid to them. However, the island was freed when Monkey D. Luffy defeated Arlong and toppled Arlong Park. This is the location of the Arlong arc.
